I guess the fact that speed runs won't dictate gear and the reward system for dungeons changing drastically explains why those particular achievements are going away.
He also says speed runs will still grant achievements, so idk why they're going away.
Means that you and your guild don't have to worry about speed runs in order to get gear (since it won't be a factor) but there will still be achievements for completing X mob in Y time. WoW has speed run achievements for mobs but they're not linked to loot tables (hard modes excluded).
The speed run timers will be around the same or shorter than they are now is my guess. Just to make the achievements themselves hard to get. I've been so annoyed with the endgame in 1.XX... It's all been speed runs and RNG, speed runs and RNG. Can a nigga just get some tokens after each successful run and save them up to get loot?
He's asking why they'd remove the 1.0 achievements if the achievements are still going to exist in some form in 2.0, he's not asking what the change mentioned in the interview means.
My guess is they just want to give 1.0 players something to show off for beating the original dungeons/primals. Who knows.
Yukata achievements aren't listed on the Lodestone as disappearing. Yukatas confirmed for 2.0
Oooh oops. Yeah on that note I'm gonna pass out now. -_-;
I think the whole achievement system is just dumb, but I guess people are into that thing. I just mostly hate missables.
The whole primal system seems to sound more mediocre each time they elaborate on it a bit more.. It's gone from roaming primals wandering the world and being captured to random instances popping up. I really hope they don't take the themepark thing too far, it's a dying trend as far as I'm concerned and they're certainly entering on the maturity stage of its life (with WoW pretty much saturating). That said, Yoshi's also said it's the thing he's most looking forward to revealing so hopefully there's more to it than there seems.
I don't think any of the Achievements tied to gear are going away, and that's likely intentional. Maybe some titles, but that's it. It's fine otherwise, something to do solo that gives you stuff sometimes but otherwise isn't important.
RE: Open world HNMs/Primals: fuck that shit and I hope it's mostly useless outside of some Free Company buff where you can use Inferno or some shit.
I don't know why everyone's anti-open world stuff, GW2 is proof enough that it doesn't have to degrade into a claim war. Grand companies could have some kind of linkshell announcement system when a big HNM is going to appear, provides a one-time teleport to nearby from the GC HQ (if it's not near an aetherite), everyone fights, GC seals handed out based on contribution.
As for primals, they couldve had the primal running about smashing shit and beating up NPCs, then just creating a battlefield and teleporting the claiming party in. If they fail, the primal flies off and smashes more stuff somewhere else at random.
I'm just really excited to start claimbotting again
Fair
Rofl @ Churchill, so fucking true. These new bots better have snappy menus & and dedicated servers, cause 2005 bots just aren't gonna cut it now a days.
I'll be honest, I will bot the fuck out of shit if it's worth botting. I will hide nothing and have no shame about it either; I'll make no justifications about other people doing it thus requiring my necessity to do it as well. I just really don't think PVE content should be PVP in a claim battle and I think better systems can be made in this regard. The only thing worse than shit like this is shit like this + RNG on the drops
Well I'm hoping that since there are dedicated teams (quests, dungeons, etc.) there will be content when 2.0 is released.
I'm glad speed runs aren't going to be linked to loot. It reminds me of gear paths. Sorry we won't be doing the path that gets you the gear you want this month, we're doing this path instead.
I'm not thrilled about open world. Widescanning for Dark Ixion when it was first released wasn't my idea of fun. I'd rather just lose a claim in DA any day. I also liked Protocrystals for Avatars so whatevs.
As said before there are absolutely ways around these problems whilst making open world content fun, and stopping the overworld feel like a FPS lobby. It was said in a recent dev post (or interview?) that Yoshi's trying pretty hard to balance the two content types given the mixed views of the playerbase so I'm hoping to see something decent.
That said, if it DOES turn into old-school HNMing (why would it? Nothing in the game has indicated as such since Tanaka fucked off), I will absolutely go no where near it.
I just hope things aren't on a stupid timer; 24hr repop with a 3 hour window. I'm old now, I can't be shirking responsibilities like I used to.
