Oh I completely agree. Just sayin' that it's something that SE has to think about 'cause people will bitch and moan.

Get ready for the most depressing correction you'll read in a while.
XIV alpha went live in April 2010. XIV beta went live in July 2010. Open beta started on September 2, 2010, while the retail game was released on September 22.
It's difficult to believe that we are coming up on the two-year-anniversary of this game. I am having an extremely hard time thinking of what progress was made in the first year of this game's release.

LOL! So much promise with Alpha and Beta writeups... Little did they know.
Being perfectly honest i think if the majority of people who gave up right after launch (October time) came back now or even at 1.20 > onwards there has been enough to do and catch up on and plenty to keep you going with many many improvements. The one thing i will say is it seems completely dependant on what world you play on. Such a mix of comments on some servers being completely dead to some being busy. On Durandal tonight nobody was spoiled for content. Seen 2 Hamlet Shouts, DOH,DOL,WHMs needed. 3 Mog Shouts, 1 Ifrit and 2 Kill a Raven Shout. I think where the downfall is in the older content of trying to get some AF, GC or Job quests done. but you still see them regularly enough.
OH SHIZ! A new trailer! But it's still not going to make most of you guys happy.
I don't understand the hesitance or inability to put gameplay shots in a trailer.
Likely Gamescom payed some money to have the first exclusive gameplay videos.
Well, the music made me poop.
Not much else to say. CGI is all well and good, but I hope when they DO show gameplay footage, that they show a lot of it.
I just hope it's good gameplay footage rather than minutes of people throwing basic attacks at dodos. I mean, show us an epic battle against that Behemoth in the trailer or something.
From the new letter:
I know you’re all jonesin’ for some in-game footage, though, and I promise it’s on the way. We’re going to be introducing some of the new content and features, doing walkthroughs on some maps, and showing the overhauled combat and Battle Regimen systems.
The XI music in the trailer hit me like a fucking nostalgia bomb
Muuuch better than the first one I think. That version of the crystal theme at the beginning and the victory fanfare at the end were really great.
Edit: I still think their voice actors need improving, I think this one suited the game more considering the accents of the characters in 1.0's trailers/cutscenes seemed european more often than not, but the quality still feels a bit lacking. I don't think I'd be so aware of it if it weren't for that awful Adoulin trailer's VA.
Inception dub still wins by far, it still gives me chills.
edit: reposting it so I can find it easier :3
Also, it just dawned on me that the snowy mountain range (w/ behemoth) is future Mor Dhona and the Crystal Tower is actually that large splinter that is ejected from the center of Dalamut into the ground. Derp.
I think they hit it right.. the first trailer had a more normal, wider appeal to folks who aren't specifically into Final Fantasy. The second one, while lacking "story" plays perfectly on the heartstrings of those who are big fans of the series.
Uh... the blue crystal looked really pretty, SE.
....
woo wasn't expecting this.. thought our next teaser would only come at Gamescom.
this is nice. very nostalgic for any FF player.
its nice to see more of what they showed in the first trailer..
i cant get over the way she says 'come'
