Commission or buy Portal Chell jumpsuit

Hi all,
Going to PAX this year (weekend of Aug. 31) and I want to do a Chell cosplay. I just emailed my friend at Valve and learned today that they're going to let me borrow a portal gun prototype for the weekend, but now I have to scramble to get the orange jumpsuit costume made, or find a used one. If anybody has a used one, I'd prefer to just buy one, but willing to commission someone if anyone wants to take on the project. I can send measurements. There is one website for a HK tailor that sells these, and I have a mail out to them asking for a time frame. Thanks for any and all help in advance. I purchased an orange jumpsuit that I think will work but I still want to see if anybody can help me add the details (bias straps on the arms and pocket detail). Any (valuable) posts would help! Thanks

The idea sounds awesome. It might be like a last resort since it sounds like it might come out a little cheap-looking, but the heavy white lines seem like things you could pull off with white painter's tape?

Yeah, I thought of that. Or what about heat-transfer vinyl for the back-logo and striping? Anybody have any experience doing that? I just wanted to do the cosplay for 1 of the 3 days.

For reference, here is the suit I decided on since the price was really good. I know it's not 100% true to the costume, but close enough to be workable.

Also you mentioned being willing to commission, had you seen this? http://www.cosplay.com/marketplace/index.php I get if you're just looking in multiple places, but it seems like a good resource to drop in case.

you should easily be able to trace out the patterns on the suit, cut iron on fabric and apply
you can lay the pieces out before ironing to guarantee they match, the tape idea will work very well too
if you do a good job on the costume, wear it for a few days, you can then resell it for a profit on etsy afterwards

Thanks Sono, that's what I'm planning on doing. Heat-transfer vinyl is pretty cheap, and I think I can hack it enough to make it look presentable. Etsy is a good idea too, thank you!

Thanks for this too. It looks like they closed their marketplace in April, though. Doesn't look like they're doing transactions? Dunno - if I hit a last-resort effort, I might try to contact someone in my area on there if I can find one. Thanks for helping!

Wanted to update - I hired a friend of a friend who makes cosplay, yay! Got the stuff pinned up and ready to hack apart today. If it turns out good, and you guys promise to not be assholes, I might post a pic after it's done. Thanks to those who were willing to help.

That's awesome, did you get to check out how who you hired did any of it? What'd you do for the legs, shoes and socks?

Thanks lol. Chell doesn't smile (not really happy as a test subject) so I just kind of played the role I guess. And I bought a flight suit, it was too big, so she pinned it, deconstructed each piece, then sewed it back together. Just a few seams needed to be ripped and re-sewn and then the white striping and pockets were added. The socks I bought from Valve (long fall socks) and just wore some comfy black flats that went OK with the rest of it.

This may not be the right place to post this but I didnt want to make a new thread for a commission since this one was here. I've been looking for some ideas or help getting together a couple Luigi costumes if anyone has any ideas. I'm wanting to do these:



I know the original Racoon Luigi was his normal outfit with the ears and tail but I like this take on it a lot more. I appreciate any help, Thanks!

I emailed Valve to thank them for letting me borrow the gun and to say that the Dota2 tourneys were really fun this weekend. They wrote back and said I get to keep the gun ;; dunno what do say right now, just floored. Valve so awesome.
