judge Marina Syrova said the women had "crudely undermined social order" during their action in February. The women say their "punk prayer" was a political act in protest against the Russian Orthodox Church leader's support of President Vladimir Putin.
Prosecutors are seeking a three-year jail sentence.
The verdict is still being read out.

"Our imprisonment serves as a clear and unambiguous sign that freedom is being taken away from the entire country," she said.
The women have been detained for the past five months.
Their defence lawyer said before the hearing that they were hoping for an acquittal, "but they are ready to continue to fight".

Large crowds of supporters have gathered outside the court in Moscow, including prominent opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
Associated Press news agency said a number of protesters had been arrested, including ex-world chess champion Garry Kasparov and opposition politician Sergei Udaltsov.

I was watching that trial on CNN, it was disgusting. A christfag witness' discourse was essentially "I was offended, BURN THEM AT STAKE! I was OFFENDED!"
Fucking sickening in this day and age that you can still face a 2 year sentence because some piece of shit is offended.


But as I was alluding to earlier, in this case it probably saved their lives. Criticism against Putin is usually met with a quiet FSB hit, media furore makes that a lot less likely, at least until it dies down.

Russian hackers have attacked the website of a Moscow court where three members of the Pussy Riot punk band were tried and sentenced to two years in jail.
The Russian offshoot of the loose-knit movement known as Anonymous tweeted that the website of the Khamovniki district court was down Tuesday morning.
According to search engines' cached pages, the hackers posted Pussy Riot's latest song ridiculing President Vladimir Putin on the website, along with calls to release the band members.
The website was not available later Tuesday.

Criticizing judges may be banned in Russia

A deputy from the majority United Russia party has come up with an idea to ban “non-professional” criticism of judges. The move follows stern public rebuke of the Pussy Riot punk-band trial and the guilty verdict.
It has become common practice “to accuse all judges in the country of injustice and incompetence,” says State Duma deputy Ilya Kostunov, as cited by RBC daily.
