Think my video card shit the bed

Was raiding in rift and my GTX 285 I've had for a little over 3 years may have died. Game froze with a scrambled screen. Reboot would result in a scrambled bsod with really no information. I can boot fine into safemode, and blowing out and re-installing the drivers didn't resolve anything. I'm going to test with a shitty pci e card at work tomorrow. If it's not the card any other ideas on what may be wrong?

If it is the card I'm going to be in the market for a new nvidia based card. Any recommendations on a sub 200 dollar card that will perform as well or maybe slightly exceed my gtx 285?

Third question is it's an EVGA card. I can't remember if it had lifetime warranty or not. Can EVGA verify that with the serial #?

if you didnt register your card with them, its only a 1-2 year warranty, maybe three

you can probably find a gtx 560ti for around 200, maybe a little more, its equal or better than your current card and much better on power

You can close this thread now Sono. Got a GTX 550 TI and the system now boots. Only sad thing is my EVGA card I had since it came with a prebuilt system actually only had a 1 year warranty on it, had no lifetime warranty even with registration.

Yea, I knew I was. Pretty much due to money my options were either raid on my wife's sony laptop, or go with a slightly underpowered card and deal till I rebuild my computer in a year or two which would have been the 4-5 year mark on the system already. I just couldn't justify 400 bucks at that point as much as I would have loved to.
