Background checks get submitted to the FBI NICS (In my state, some states have a state point of contact), so I am unsure other than the responses of Proceed, Delay or Deny that they give me. If they answer yes to 11.f then I stop the sale and I have done it before.

Yea, which is how it's supposed to be and I'm glad that it's followed through. Though i'm a little biased about background checks as I feel they can also punish people who should be able to have them. Reason being is my brother when he was 18 he got drunk, passed out, girlfriend was a dumb bitch who stood over him and slapped him to wake him up and he instinctively punched her before he realized who it was and her mother had him arrested. Well he eventually got the misdemeanor domestic violence charge expunged on a state level so he could join the army (law has it that if you have domestic violence on your record, you can't have a gun). 2 years later him and his wife apply for gun permits in Oklahoma so they can go hunting with some friends and he got denied due to it. So now after talking to the FBI he has to have a full federal pardon from the state before he can legally own a gun which is going to fuck him over since he wants to be a police officer once he gets his BA in criminal justice. Good enough for the army and possibly be shipped to Afghanistan or Iraq, but not good enough to own his own handgun....

In the movie theatre shooting thread someone posted a video that was more or less a collage of news coverage of high profile shootings in recent history and towards the end there was a part where some expert or another was being interviewed about such incidents. He was asked what can be done to prevent them and said, more or less, to stop giving the incidents such excessive news coverage as it only serves to propagate the idea in people's minds that going on a shooting spree is a sure way to get more attention than you could ever dream of.
