Enormous fire erupts at Chevron Refinery in Richmond, CA - toxic fumes from crude oil burning

Nah, they would have coordinated with MSM if they were going to do that. No real point to do it and not have them dedicate all morning/afternoon to telling everyone how sick they're going to be and how much this will influence gas prices and how bad the speculation could really jump the price per barrel.

All joking aside this was the story they were singing on every news channel this morning when I woke up for work. In fact they were saying gas prices already jumped this morning as a result.

*puts tinfoil hat on* anyone notice how perfect the timing for this "disaster" is with respect to gas prices? I find it quite convenient that gas prices have been plummeting and there have been no natural or man made disasters lately for the gas companies to use as an excuse to raise gas prices. They don't want to keep watching their record profits keep dropping towards normal profits. I wouldn't be surprised if they hired someone to set fire to their refinery so they would have a highly public reason to raise gas prices on everyone. *tinfoil hat off*

Which is weird since gas been progressively going up here the past month or so. Was like $3.29 the start of July, now it's $3.79, give or take 15 cents depending on where you go.

Gas prices in MN are up an average of .04 cents today, $3.79, but most places around where I live are at $3.89. Although prices have had a steady increase since August 1st after a gradual decrease in the last week of July.

Reminds me of the news I used to watch on early mornings before going to school when I was younger. I would watch Fujisankei news to see how it was in another country. It's Japanese news subbed in english. Jeez they pretty much had nothing to cover. Most of the big stuff was happening in other places during their world news segment. They had to cover stuff like a new statue opening ceremony or what was hot at the produce isle in the markets. I remember one day tho they did this big report on a little kid that raped/killed a much yournger girl (iirc) then committed suicide. Talk about fucked up

Bout a 25 cent a gallon spike in Dublin since the fire. When I gassed up a week ago, was 3.71 at safeway. Last night was 4.01

Well fuck, I remember when the Chevron station blew up when i was like, 6 or 7. We weren't allowed to leave Y-care because Chevron was right down the road from where I lived(which was Point Richmond). Glad they got it contained because I really love that area.
