Only good thing from the prequels was Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, and the music.

One of my favorite pieces from the prequels. I wish they would do a tv series or movie on the jedi knight games. Kyle Katarn is a boss.

Obviously not canon, but it makes the story more interesting and makes more godsdamn sense than the real explanation. FF8 isn't a good game, but I have a soft spot for it. You can enjoy something and still admit that it's bad. The soundtrack was fucking great, though.

If you enjoyed it, then it was good. Don't let the man influence your opinion.

I can't believe this thread really even exists, I mean opinions are opinions, and just because a lot of people share your opinion, it still doesn't turn it into a fact. And do you honestly care if people don't share your opinion? At the end of the day, is really it hurting you that someone likes a movie you didn't?

There were parts of every one of the movies, prequel and original, that I liked, and part of every one of the movies that I didn't like. I enjoyed the stories that were told in each, and I was willing to look past any imperfections that were there and still was able to enjoy what I saw.

Personally, my favorite part was seeing Natalie Portman's outfits, they had some bitchin' dresses on her in the first two movies.

8 was the most unbalanced RPG ever. It took a couple of hours to be stronger then everything in the game.

Star Wars: I went to see Revenge of the Sith -- I didn't like how quiet the light sabers were.

And contributing my reasons for FF8 (based on that thread above which I remembered posting in, and elsewhere, which I don't remember where now)

Back then, the idea of this game was like a fantasy dream for us, as lame as it sounds, since we were all looking forward to going to College/university to be independent. FF8 hammers this point on a bit, with the travel, and turning up to classes, etc (outside of the other more fantasy elements, i.e. summons/fighting).

There's a difference between liking something because it's bad (Jesus Christ Vampire hunter!), and liking something bad. If you like it, that makes it good to you. Other people's opinions don't mean shit when it comes to whether or not you enjoy a movie. And fucking lol at a story Having to follow a formula.

Also, FF8 was amazing because of this.

Yeah... I've never understood why people complain about drawing magic and GFs and crap. Refine cards and useless shit into high-level spells -> junction STR and HP -> turn on that no-encounter thing -> hold down X for 99% of the rest of the game. If anything poses a remote challenge, cast the only spell ever worth casting instead of junctioning then hit it with the ultimate bajillion-sword-hits attack of doom you got at the beginning of Disk 2. Oh, wait... forgot about that one optional boss that follows the exact same attack pattern every time. Whatever; just refine one of the cards that's impossible to miss and bajiliion-swords him while in god mode.

Bonus points for naming the dog Anal.

This is one of the most retarded things that I have ever heard. Despite what you think there are objective standards that can be applied to techniques used to make movies. Based on those objective standards (writing/dialogue, cinematography, acting/delivery, special effects, etc) the prequels fail in nearly every regard. The only thing that they did above average was the effects. That being said, something can be bad based on those standards and still be enjoyable, they are not mutually exclusive. Just because something is enjoyable doesn't mean that it's good, and just because something is good doesn't mean that it's enjoyable.

FF8 is boss! But yeah, about the movies I personally didn't like any of them at all. Just not my thing, but I'd never fault anyone for liking them. Thing is, sales has NOTHING to do with quality. Biggest example to use is the music industry.

Remember kids, if you need glasses, just go with the simpler solution of jabbing two steak knives into your eyes. It eliminates the need for glasses all together. If that's right for you, then who cares? Don't let the man influence your opinion.

But seriously. If you like the prequels then more power to you. Go wild, and shine on, you crazy diamond. You are totally entitled to your opinions.

You are not entitled to your own facts, though. Certain conventions exist in storytelling and cinema for a reason. It takes extremely talented, visionary writers and directors to create something unique out of it that is not something unintelligible and stupid. That's not what Lucas did, or even attempted. The prequels have all the hallmarks of just plain lazy, unimaginative, disposable shlock garbage that you can see in a thousand other objectively terrible movies. If you like it, whatever. If you tell people they are wrong/bandwagoning/whatever for pointing out the flaws, you're just a dumbass.

You did not watch or did not understand the RLM reviews if you think this is what they were saying.

People can like crappy art but that doesn't change the fact that it is crappy art.

Someone in this thread was the one who said they had to follow a formula, he was responding to that.

Nobody was saying people are wrong for pointing out opinions. When you claim opinions are fact, then it gets iffy.
