Based on everything that we've seen, he's done everything that I could ask for without seeing the actual plot, quest structure, and content of the game. The building blocks certainly look to be in-place. Whether we'll see content designed to promote people helping one another (separate loot pools for every mob, full XP regardless of claim for helping to kill, public quests that don't need a party and reward full XP for participating, ect.) is stuff we'll have to (and should) worry about later.
In terms of the meat and potatoes; the base of which you design a game around, he's nailed everything I can think of off of the top of my head. SE has never done that before, so yeah, I'ma give credit where credit is due.
Seriously hyped for the alpha/beta now. I hope we get lots of betas and long periods of play-time during each.
I broke my no "z" rule recently and I showed you the screenshot of that fallout.
Edit: I just hope the beta is run like the test server in XI; give us the option to auto cap out stuff to 50/get gear/etc so we can run around and try stuff that the majority of us are used to doing. I'm not really interested in seeing if I can level from 1-15 with quests and how much fun that will be because I won't be doing it. I want to see what jobs play/feel like at cap. tl:dr I'm not doing a beta to do the thing I hate most in mmo's and I wil cry if I want to
Here's a bigger picture of the UI they had earlier:
Spoiler: show

Thoroughly impressed by how much Yoshida & Co. have been able to do in the time they've had.
I'm gunna get heat for saying this, but I think it has just as much to do with people hating cities. The same reason NYC and Tokyo are destroyed in every other movie. It's filled with rich, overly-entitled people who think they're smarter than everyone else and show it with every smug step they make. Then they get destroyed. "Haha" the fly-over states shout as they plan a bake sale for their 4H club/Klan rally. "They got what they deserved for being a trade hub for more than 100 years." Limsa is more or less a really big fishing town and Grid is literally in the boonies. It'll never matter how much better designed Ul'Dah was as an environment because the people in it ruined it forever, so God's will decrees it must be flattened, lest its tain infect the next generation.
Or, you know, whatever. Cocainum.
That's not even what I was saying. And no, Gridania and Limsa aren't more interesting. They're all monotone. Grass, Highlands, Desert. You pick the one with the best layout, which is Ul'dah, not the one that is prettiest, which is none of them because they're all unremarkable.
Pretty hilarious how everybodies dick is hard from a cell phone video featuring: like 4 auto attacks, 9 minutes of bunny hopping, and a pre-rendered battle regimen scene with a fairly cool animation. The only thing to take from that is that the UI isn't entirely embarrassing anymore.
SALIVA EVERYWHERE
Anyone know what the timeline is for the whole ps3 release/beta/w/e? My computer kicked the bucket so now I play FFXIV ATARI. From the very beginning we wanted to do the ps3 version though (we even have 2 ps3s because of this game), so I may not worry about getting my comp fixed if the ps3 version is going to come out soon anyway.
You can make your own addons so expect the list to come back soon or something.
Also for you Hildibrand fans, apparently he has a twitter now: https://twitter.com/HildibrandXIV
The local sourpuss has arrived.
It's a good sign when after the first showing of V2 gameplay the biggest complaint is the texture of the grass.
Edit: Holy shit, just checked the OFs and there's 8 threads about grass on the first page of the general forum.
I love how the Deathclaw is an effing hovercraft.
