Don't tease me! You mean we could get more? My hopes... they are soaring.
That's ridiculous. I really hope they don't seriously waste their time and effort making grass effects when they could be adding real content.
I guess you can't please some people though. They have to find something to complain about.
I pop my head in there from time to time. I usually run when I see a post that goes something like...
Will FFXIV be as good as FFXI?
AH needs to be fixed
It's so tiring and I've heard it before.
This was a good opening day, still hype as all hell.
Not sure if they're ready to show it, but I'd love to see the Buddy system, PVP and Primal Summoning in action. NOW'S THE TIME SE
He can't kill mine. A lag-free, western-inspired, Eastern-designed MMO that looks like a prettier running-mate with GW2 is delicious. To be able to have something to play alongside GW2 for awhile will be a real treat.
@Xanthe: Japan's last hurdle, I think, is to show the world that they can do more with a PC than make pretty FMVs. I should be saying it strictly about SE, but Japan still pretty much shuns PCs for anything that isn't a rape-simulator or a train simulator. If the game feels as smooth as it looks, everything else can be built upon later, without having to redo the game again. They can put in dynamic content, they can put in walls of fire to shoot arrows through (even though the walls in GW2 last for all of 2.5 seconds), and they can certainly put in a freakin' auction house.
What they could not put in were the intangibles; the things that should be in a game from launch that shows the modern-day paying customer that "we get it". Star Wars didn't get it, despite millions and millions invested in the game. SE didn't get it with 1.0. This young Japanese developer, much like youth all across the world when saddled up against the stiff, old guard, is showing me that "he gets it".
As a fan of Final Fantasy's past, back when today's stuffy old men were younger guys, that's all I've wanted them to display for years now. Show me that you can be modern, conceptually, not simply graphically. No one has ever questioned the size and power of SE's engine. Its always been the concepts (belts, zippers, spiky hair and keyblades) and the execution (linear, boring designs and repetitive, lazy concepts in the interest of "keeping with traditions").
Show more shit, SE. It'd be nice to see them go attack the previous complaints head-on: show a close-up of someone tapping jump on the keyboard while showing it on-screen via split screen. Show two set-ups with two different characters moving on the same screen so we can see that the imput lag is gone. We'll get the meat of it come test-time, but it'd be great for them to really be able to puff out their chests and say "we understand, and we've learned."
Spoilered for hugeSpoiler: show
Definitely not Leviathan. http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy...an_Artwork.jpg
But the fish from the opening? http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Leviathan.png
Yep, looks like it.
So Ive been working my nuts off since my first 3 posts in this thread after the video release at like 10:30 am. Come back and there's 10 new pages. There hasn't been this much positive commentary on BG about this game since pre-beta. I am glad I left LNC / MRD / MNK / GLA to level after 2.0 launch as it looks like it will be way more enjoyable.
Heh, lets hope it doesn't flame out as quickly as it did post-beta.
The bone dragon looks like the bridge in skyrim when you go to Valhalla, they also stole the fall foliage lol.
Seadragon or something like that. You see more of it in the Limsa storyline and no one ever calls it Leviathan.
The dragon was probably meant to be Leviathan (there is a cutscene where he pretty much uses Tidal Wave) but it was likely dropped completely to have a more FF looking Leviathan. Nice to see that it's not completely gone in 2.0 XD
Thought it was supposed to be midgard
Midgard is the dragon in mor dhona from the intro, they're talking about the serpent/seadragon from the limsa cutscenes.
Midgardsormr is the dragon in Mor Dhona wrapped around the ship.
*Edit* Beat
Did you just imply Blizzard made Skyrim
Woops, I misread. >_< I don't know how I got that...
Edit in Bethesda instead please.
Thought so too.
Thought the lore of the LL story even mentions the primals being awoken in reference to what happened in that cutscene.
Going off memory as well, but I always thought that the Leviathan in the cutscene was basically Tanaka's and then Yoshi changed it in the concept art for a planned battle.
I could have sworn that the giant fish/dragon/monster from the Limsa Lominsa intro was referred to in-game as "Leviathan" at some point...
