In addition, we also have an article detailing the screenshots introduced at the demo, so please take a look.
August 15th is a business day, so in actuality it is a limited release meant for distributors, but when it become a public release tomorrow they are planning on having a demonstration using the same material three times each day and making some great announcements for the European userbase.
At the event, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's producer/director, Yoshida Naoki made an appearance on the main stage of KOCH Media, the company responsible for distributing Square Enix titles in Germany. After greeting the audience in German, he introduced FFXIV while showing screenshots and discussed the widespread renovations they are planning in the "Reborn Eorzea".
Regarding the graphics, Yoshida claimed they were "the best in MMORPG history" and said the content of the game was being made into a good enough quality for him to have confidence in it when he ships it out. Even regarding the story, he promised that he would present it with RPG-like qualities befitting the newest entry to the Final Fantasy series and also make sure it has the feeling of Final Fantasy.
And then Yoshida had prepared a surprise at the end of his explanation. He unveiled the plan for implementing the FFVI magitek armor, FFIII's Crystal Tower, as well as using FFVII's Golden Saucer as a casino location which he had revealed before in an interview. It's slightly long, but we have collected Yoshida's statements below.
Naoki Yoshida is completely renewing FFXIV as "A Realm Reborn" and achieving great leaps in progress. The server system, client system, map, user interface have all been renewed, and will be released as a new product with an unmistakably "Final Fantasy" feel, so please look forward to it.
Regarding the graphics, in order to give the best gameplay and story to the players we consider them indispensable, and as long as we release this as part of the "Final Fantasy" series, we are preparing it with the best graphics in MMORPG history in order to have our players enjoy it for a long period of time.
In regards to the story, before it is an MMORPG, it's an RPG from the Final Fantasy series, so we are preparing a very "Final Fantasy" story and betting our pride on it as a numbered title, so please look forward to it.
Of course it will have characters we are familiar with like Moogles and Chocobos, and we are also preparing huge and powerful summoned beasts as well. Ifrit, Garuda, TItan, Leviathan, Shiva, Odin, we are preparing every possible summon and waiting for everyone to challenge them.
But of course that's not all. We are also bringing in past elements from the Final Fantasy series. For example, the Magitek Armor from FFVI or the Crystal Dungeon from FFIII. In the future the Gold Saucer from FFVII will also be available, so I really would like everyone to look forward to the updates.
Aside from that, we are also preparing a full-blown PvP system for the first time in the series. This isn't just for the kind of core players who would do PvP though, as we also have prepared a lot of content in the public areas for casual players as well. Casual players who have busy workdays can enjoy it too and find a way to play it in accordance to their lifestyle, so please try it out.
