Thanks for clarification.
Thanks for clarification.
Never played Warhammer Online but I've only heard good things of it's PvP. Hope this happens.
This is a long shot but imagine these guys knock it out of the park with some really good PvP and it gets adopted in the competitive scene. Ever seen one of those WoW arena tournaments? lol
Thanks for the translation Stan.
I think the 'cross hot bar' of the PS3 version's UI will probably be similar to the XrossMediaBar UI the PS3's home uses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XrossMediaBar). Seems likely considering the name, and I think it could work quite well if say, you use the R1/L1 to move between buttons and then up and down to select skills from the list...
I think it sounds better in my head, purely speculation of course.
Lots of good stuff there, looking forward to seeing the crystal tower in action, although I do hope they take a nyzul-esque system and let you stop between floors fairly frequently. Maybe a couple of bosses per floor that you can tackle at a time (each with their own lockout, if that's the way they're going to take endgame), but if you want to blast through it you can do as many floors as you want in one sitting.
Edit: I found warhammer's PvP quite fun, it was just everything else about the game that sucked.
Pretty much what PSO2 does for the weapon switch menu (iirc). I think there are a few other games that have similar action bar.
I always imagined it as:
- UI is cross shaped
- 3 pages. Hold R2/L2 to switch to pages 2/3. Maybe just press?
- Use Dpad to highlight ability and then press X to execute.
Does anyone have an example of this crossbar support in other games? What I have in my head surely isn't how it would look in a game as it would seem gaudy. As a controller user now I don't particularly have a problem with the interface other than it being slow and non-responsive.
I guess it would be best just to wait for the presentation of the UI itself.
Latency would have to be perfect for that to ever have a hope of happening. It'd have to be regional tournaments at best, and at worst... well... Lets just hope they've truly cleaned up the imput lag. I suppose we'll find out come beta.
Edit: I believe TERA uses a cross-bar type. I'm not 100% sure as I don't play MMOs on consoles or with pads.
When I read "Cross Hot Bar", I think of the PS3 menu. You can scroll left/right to access different subsections, and up/down to access different actions.
Then again, when I read "Cross Hot Bar", my mind also distorts it into "Hot Cross Buns".
Shopped this really quick at work. One of the two is the winner imo:

^ The first one was the one I thought Xenoblade had but I was imagining it wrong.
I'd prefer that over the 2nd one but that's just me.
Reminded me of Zelda at first
v
Bottom one reminds me of Super Mario RPG.
Yeah, the top one is how I'm expecting it to turn out. Different tiers or types of a spell on each of the horizontal buttons, with variants on the verticle (so maybe cure with cura above and curaga below or whatever).
I was thinking more like those are just two extra bars period. Just you can't see them until you scroll over. But what you said works waaaay better.
Let's say you scroll over a WS on the bar... the bar will grow vertically and show you more WS that combo with the initial one. So you can have like 2-5 vertically as opposed to 2-3.
Top one is how I would prefer it since that's relatively close to what we have now. Anniversary event can't come fast enough so I can see how it really looks.
Anniversary Event is during labor day weekend (August 31st - September 3rd). "End of September" falls more in line with TGS (September 19th - September 22nd).
*US dates.*
Edit: Update from Camate:
Oh by the way, I forgot to mention that now that gamescom is over the next thing the team will be focusing on is the FINAL FANTASY 25th anniversary event. The plan is to release a recorded version on our YouTube channel as soon as possible after the event with subtitles for our North American and European players.
