Sorry I made that more confusing than I should have. The Golden Saucer and Crystal Tower comments were different bullet points, they weren't combined into one.

Another funny Google Engrish Translation:
Thats so shit-hot man.Had a shit-hot LoD, coming almost to the point where you do not even notice Core i5. I almost do not know but I think PS3.
Gold Saucer? Is that for serious? If so, then I will go gentle into that good night....
Yes it's serious. It was mentioned ages ago as an example of something that might be added, then at E3 he said it would be added, now we're getting a time frame for it's addition.
I wonder how serious they still might be about that long-since-forgotten bit about visiting other Final Fantasy universes...
I'm starting to think that FF14 could finally be the MMO that breaks up my marriage. Must has alpha/beta now prz.
Would love to see some of the quirky stuff from FFIX making it into an expansion, mainly the desert continent stuff like the black mage village, desert palace and conde petie (Sp?). Really vibrant, interesting areas with races of NPCs that aren't similar to Eorzea's.
Some goooood stuff to come
Edit: Also Oeilvert (sp)! Having a bit of a IX nostalgia-sm thinking about how awesome some of it would be in HD/3D. Do want those stone guys who petrify and make mirror images for the fun.
Well the Gold Saucer was mentioned, I believe, at the same time Magitek Armor mounts were confirmed. At E3 he said he wanted to integrate Cocoon and Ivalice into the FFXIV world somehow (Cocoon I'm sure of, Ivalice I may be misremembering with something else). I'm still hoping for what would be his best cross game addition:
Spoiler: show
A city like Cleyra would be really cool to see done.
man if this game did that there's no way i'd be able to escape its grasp
I hope I'm not the only one that wants this game to have some of its own shit and not just one bastardized mix of old stuff ("with a new spin"). Maybe they're just not talking about the brand new stuff because it won't incite as much hype... Personally, I'd rather hear about what's new, though, so all this rehashed stuff is awfully irritating. This is the PR wheel though, so I understand they're just trying to attract newcomers with whatever bait they think will work.
For me, Final Fantasy is all about not reusing shit from their other games with the exception of minor irrelevant details such as chocobos, moogles, cactuars, the name "Cid", etc.
Not at all, I hope the old stuff is common enough to be enjoyable but scarce enough that it isn't overbearing. As long as it fits the setting though, I don't think it's inappropriate. A village of black mages, adding moombas on another continent in an expansion, or XYZ from FF# I don't think is over the top, again, as long as it isn't overbearing.
- Triple Triad baked into the entire game. Can duel anyone anytime/anywhere (obviously outside of combat).
- Gilgamesh as a secret/optional boss. Oh god man if hes inside the Crystal Tower "looking for loot" and they keep him secret till very last minute...
- Kefka mask.
Make it happen Yoshi.
Nothing wrong with the old and the new meshing together. First of all it sells quite nicely. If you got all my friends together in a room and asked our opinions about the FF series and asked what we liked/didn't like about each one we would get into a brawl. I'd probably be punched in the gut for the things I hated about FF7 & 9, meanwhile I'd have to break someone's wrist over saying how FF8's story had holes. Who cares if it had holes! Roar!
But! Putting in bits of fanservice from each one? It would bring a smile to my face--even if I disliked the game it came from. Plus it gets people talking and advertising it (which FFXIV could really use).
Awesome! Although if Summoner is at launch... hmm... Crystal Tower or Summoner... hmm....
Edit:
Persona 3 style

Seeing as how they said they're going to upgrade and update the tower in successive patches, I'd say that it makes sense to include it at launch. Think of it as one of those end-game dungeons in single player RPGs with 100 floors; SE can just add more and more "floors" with each update.
