Translation from Rein about info in new ConnectOn magazine. The reason behind why battle will start with TP 1000 - Didn't like how you couldn't use WS at start of battle and it will become troublesome in PvP
The TP regen after battle is fast but balanced to where if you spam 6-7 WS it will stop
Combo will be changed so the first will only require positioning
Battle will change a lot. Specially for MNK want to say sorry
For targeting feature at the stage demo they were clicking but YoshiP normally uses Tab Key or using feature to target nearest enemy. Game pad will have upgraded target circle and you can choose your favorite circle and rotate with that.
Keyboard and Gamepad will have completly different action bar structer/positiong. For Keyboard it's concentrated on mouse control but with gamepad it will only open the UI that's related to current selection and all other windows will close. Will be simple. Main menu display will be 8 (??? I don't get this last part)
See bold. PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!
Isn't that how most of them work already?
That's how WAR+BRD works, anyway. Coincidentally, those are the two jobs I play most.
E.g. MNK makes you dance around the enemy.
God, Yoshi needs an altar or something.
ok after seeing that FFXIV video on the 1. page I am curious again in this game, but I will wait on reviews and see how well it is recieved. I still have a bitter flavour in my tongue from the first release, but its looking promising.
I wish they would get rid of position requirements completely, but this is a good step. Nothing was more annoying than missing the final part of a combo because my positioning was slightly off for back/side.
Edit: I'm totally psychic and read Avelle's mind.
I don't mind positioning elements, I just don't want to feel like I am playing the games limitations in order to be effective when position elements vary from class to class (or in the case of magic classes, have no positioning elements what so ever). I think requiring the right position to start combo is just fine especially with a hopefully better designed server and positional updater for our characters. And maybe have position elements only a play a part from then on as just 'bonus' to your skill. It was just unfair to MNK and DRG when they had multi step position combos to get to their best stuff where the other combat classes either didn't have second position requirements or the position was in front for tank classes which meant they were already in position.
My latency issues were never bad enough to screw up solo concussive blow combos and I could occasionally do a Pounce combo if Haymaker's stun lasted long enough. I'm not sure how I feel about this, but if we go back to how boring MNK was in FFXI I'd rather dance. Positioning was the only interesting aspect of MNK beyond MP management through Sucker Punch (and Featherfoot). They would have to add another aspect to MNK or build more on what it has to make up for the loss of interactivity.
THAT SAID, following Pounce with Sucker Punch without having to re-position will make MP management faster and more reliable. If they make a new ability to aid in Fist of <Element> up-keep, then I won't particularly miss re-positioning.
There was never a time MNK was boring.
Also, you should always be able to rear combos while solo, just run through the mob.
