Truly, a god among men.
So close, but that's not the model for optical hat.

You're right. Apparently for some reason around 2005 I DAT swapped the correct model with the Errant Hat one. Fixed now, at any rate.
lol i miss old school bad fashion/good stats gear choices..
while we all still do this, the new ones look much better and are far less mismatched.
my fave DRG fashion era was the mezraq days tho
I used to camp Ose like nuts on bst and sell jerkins for 2m a pop :O
Granted, this was over 6 years ago.
But anyway, I can't say I'll be upset if that style of armor is not put into FFXIV![]()
I ended up lotting against a ninja lotter (a bad one since he didn't see I hadn't lotted) in '03? Beat his 997 with a 998. I only did it to make him cry along with everyone else who was pissed about it. I think we were in a full alliance because all 3 parties were leveling down there and agreed to team up to kill Ose.
Wasn't until pshh... 2010 or 2011 I actually had a job that could use it.
Nothing was more delicious than hearing him send me nasty tells before he raged quit over this stupid orange jerkin. Was worth -1 inventory all those years just so I could laugh at my mannequin whenever I went to get something from my storage. Still brings a smile to my face when I think about it.
But yeah. Don't want that ugly thing in FFXIV. XD
was it a pick up alliance? That's the only way I could see AJ being freelot back then.
Completely pickup. Our party was rocking the faces off of the other two parties there. I remember I was in a static NIN+BRD+BLM+WHM+DRK+WAR (sometimes +MNK instead of WAR) at the time. Well I had 3 LS members in the alliance. All three of them were DRK or DRG.
When it dropped we all agreed to let it go to the ones who was on a job that could use it. I had to go to the bathroom or grab a drink or something that involved me disappearing... When I returned to my desk I saw massive QQing.
The alliance WHM leader had out-lotted my DRK LS member, Nazak. I think he had a 987 or something really high. Everyone was clapping and giving the 'Congrats' when the WHM out lotted him and said 'I plan on leveling something next to use this, sorry lol'.
He totally thought he had it in his inventory and was dancing around until I lotted.
I don't think anyone has ever gotten so pissed at me in any game.
(My party members back then were... Shinomori NIN Mithra, Sandkat BRD Elvaan F, Bernhard BLM Hume M, Ambrosia MNK Galka... and for some reason my mind is failing on remembering the other names. The DRK and WAR were both Male Elvaans. Can picture the models but can't place the names.) I'm impressed I remember this from so many years ago. I did level outside of my static so this might have been a day where I chose to level with LS members or just a random pickup. I know for a fact though Nazak was there because he sent me a tell to "outlot this asshole" and had the WHM not lotted he would have gotten the AJ.
I don't think he ever did get the AJ? Maybe much, much later...
can't wait for this weekend to come by so this thread that has totally gone off tangent can die (not that nostalgia talk is bad) and we can talk about FFXIV again in a new thread.
on-offtopic, FFXIV doesn't really sport much regional influence in its gear, so far as i can tell...
like, XI gear tend to draw parallels with real world regions of influence.. near-east gear is like arabic, and far-east japanesey.
XIV feels mainly high fantasy drab.. with only the job af sporting some sort of exceptional fantasy flavor.. and the new RSE which is slightly european. agree?
Most of the gear in XIV is horridly bland and copies of lower level gear with a couple of tweaks. They went over how they designed the armor to be that way in one of the videos on the CE DVD so that they could quickly make new gear without much work. Some of the newer armor looks okay, like Vanya, Gryphonskin and Darklight, but it's still lacks the regional influence you're talking about. I would certainly like to see them shift into ANYTHING that adds some uniqueness to the types of gear; whether they do it regionally or something different, I really don't care.
I imagine It'll all be bland until we get a regionally themed expansion.
Most of the armour looks vaguely European to me anyway though I agree there's little in the way of visible influence. Asian territories have been done to death anyway, would love some tribal get ups (like Weskit) or more European flair (2.0 RSE).
I do appreciate the way bandannas look with their designs.
I would kind of like a 'costume' equipment set where you can change what your character is wearing to look like a different piece of equipment you have on you. I've been deliberating on upgrading a piece of my crafting equipment but I hate how the color is compared to what I have...
As long as we don't devolve back to the slate-gray or dirt-brown armor on everyone on 2.0, I'll live.
I read "costume" and immediately thought of this:

I know that's not what you meant though.

PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy XIV Details Coming at Tokyo Game Show
We'll get details on the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV around the time of Tokyo Game Show, Famitsu reveals this week as part of an interview with the game's development staff.
This appears to suggest that Square Enix won't be sharing PlayStation 3 version details during FFXIV's stage event at the weekend's Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event. Tokyo Game Show will be held this year from 9/20 to 9/23.
Famitsu also reveals some of the user interface changes players can expect on PS3. Different from the PC version, the PS3 will not show all those horizontally lined-up icons. Additionally, the designers' are attempting to fit all main commands into eight items.
Targeting is also being evolved for the PS3 version (this may be for the PC version as well). You'll be able to select from within the targeting circle.
