Honestly, I think Ghana wins easily and the only way we advance is with an epic draw. I hate this shit; god we should have fucking won.
US still advances with a Ghana win and a US loss if the score differential is 1.
Basically Americans need to hope that Portugal pulls it's head out of it's ass and Muller doesn't come to play.
What happens if the goal differential is the same? Total goals overall?
Yeah.
If that's even they draw lots.
Edit: Wrong on the lots. Looks like whoever won the head to head goes through after total goals. So US would go through. They draw lots if the head to head was a draw.
I would rather have Portugal win by +5 or whatever to advance than have Ghana advance.
Knocking the US out from beyond the grave... That MIGHT be the worst thing.
Whatever happens I hope the USA advances, but ugh. I'm still so upset they lost.. that would have been such a wonderful win. :/
with a healthy ronaldo that's an entirely different game
not really fair to call them overrated when their best forward is running like alexi lalas
about portugal AND germany? lol...
Guys, I think we are fine. The US and German coach are like BFF's from waaay back. They both know that a draw advances them both. I'm sure they will have worked out a gentleman's agreement for a draw by Thursday. >_>
Ronaldo's injury wasn't why he played bad, he played bad cause he wasn't there mentally. He was offsides constantly, meaning the mid/wings couldn't even play the ball to him. He had one slight glimmer of comfortable play in like the first 10 minutes, did some nice little touches around the mid field and let his team catch up, and then he passed it away.
His late game cross was something he should have been doing all game. /shrug.
It's honestly pretty fair to say that "the group of death" was miss judged by just about everyone. Based on play alone, in the matches i've watched, it should be Germany and Ghana advancing. And i'm pulling for the US every step of the way. Fortunately, luck is also a gigantic factor in ANY sporting event, as is the opposite.
The only thing i know is that France, Netherlands, Germany (maybe not as good, but i think it's more the teams they played ghana) all look how folks expected them.
Everything else has been surprising: Spain going out, Brazil playing mediocre (winning but not how folks expected), England being worse than alot of folks thought, Argentina winning but barely, fucking Algeria looked amazing vs. South Korea. And then there's Costa Rica.
Games to watch: Chile vs. Netherlands; Croatia vs. Mexico; and the one i'm really curious to watch : Algeria vs. Argentina (I really like Messi as a professional Athlete. I have no desire to see Argentina get a World Cup, but I'd like Messi to get a World Cup)
You mean Nigeria, right?
Algeria is unlikely to meet Argentina this WC. They'd need to beat or tie Russia (and hope SK doesn't beat Belgium by 3+ goals) then beat Germany to face Argentina.
Otoh, Nigeria-Iran was easily the worst game so far with both teams playing terribly, so I'm not really stoked for Nigeria. Didn't see them against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
the team that beat south korea is the one im talking about. my b if i messed that up.
