All I know is that I need germany and argentina to get to the world cup so I have a chance to win my pool.

Damn, this thread sure got popular while the US was playing, lol.
It helped that the US played on a Sunday and not during a workday afternoon, I'm sure.
Hoping Chile wins so Holland and Brazil eliminate each other![]()
To watch Holland/Chile for the drama or to watch Spain/Australia to laugh at Spain's misfortune? Can't decide.
The Germany v USA game is playing at the same time as the Portugal v Ghana game on Thursday so it's going to be rough as hell switching back and forth.
Looks like we'll be getting Brazil vs Chile in the next round. Hoping for a Chile upset.
The Netherlands have been the most convincing team in this first round... well, the Netherlands and Costa Rica. Even mighty Germany didn't deliver vs Ghana.
This first round will greatly alter the fifa rankings, predictably:

Australia was, on paper, one of the worst teams in the tournament (alongside Iran and a few others), but they performed relatively well against both Chile & Netherlands. At least, the dutch WON all their games.
I like Germany, but they were really disappointing against Ghana.
What else is there among the favourites and "dark horses"? Spain got slaughtered, Brazil couldn't beat Mexico, Argentina barely scraped by Iran (who, on the field, were a lot worse than Australia), Germany couldn't beat Ghana, Italy lost to Costa Rica, lolPortugal.
Columbia performed to expectations, but did not exceed them. Should have a decent run, but unlikely to lift the cup.
God we're going to lose to Germany and Ghana is going to eliminate us yet again. I can already see it; fuck that header ruined my day/week.
