Players that have natural ball skills and goal scoring ability don't end up playing GK or CB. They end up as essential cogs for their teams, scoring and creating goals. Are you seriously trying to pick a fight to deny this? Pique has a pretty good technique and passing skills that'd allow him to play as a defensive midfielder or perhaps even in a more attacking role. I am pretty sure he'd also make an good striker even today with a couple of months experience. Its just that he also happens to have a very good defensive abilities (excellent positioning, physical strength and overall marking) that makes him a much better defender.

Thiago Silva, Mijhailovic from recent history, Koeman...

Ramos would also turn out to be a good forward if he was a career striker.

And Rafael Marquez, the ex defender of Barca? That guy could even be a good trequartista. Gullit? I recall him playing at almost every possible position except for the goal. Rijkaard as well.

These are just the examples I could think off my head in a minute.

And regarding penalties, a penalty taker isn't necessarily the one that has the best technical skills. It is an entire different league, and that's why you come across players that never score except for penalty kicks, as the main penalty taker of a team.

Minerio did a pretty damn good job at comebacks, all those last minute goals in the finals were just awesome. Great to see how players like Jo has revived their careers in Brazil.

...and to see Ronaldinho adding yet another trophy to his career. World Cup? Check. Copa America? Check. Champions League? Check. Libertadores? Check. Anything left?

And the coach up in the box watching. Sure they made it out like it was no big deal but not having him on the bench does have an impact. The team is looking really solid now getting deep in the WC qualifiers and going towards the WC. I'm super excited for the next WC. Especially since it's closer to US time zones so I'm not getting up and drunk at 9am watching the games.

Craziest transfer deadline day in years. Really hope we can get Lukaku to west brom for another year. We have Quagliarella possibly lined up too but I doubt we would sign him if Lukaku joins.
