This is so fucking amazing and it HURTS nothing came of it.

I really thought they would score that (and a few other times as well), amazing how the USA came back after being pushed back during the second half. Was a great game overall and was pleasantly surprised to see Belgium get so many opportunities. It seems we (Belgium) are now the top attacking team in the World Cup, thanks to this match. Our first 3 matches were nothing spectacular so it was pretty strange seeing us go on like that.

Anyway, wondering what we'll be able to show vs. Argentina.

It's less the flopping and more the writhing that I'm taking issue with. And given that teams in the lead in this very World Cup are on the ground writhing in fake pain nearly 4 times as long as those trailing, I think it's incredibly clear that writhing on the ground is a time-wasting maneuver.

And they do this because stoppage time doesn't adequately deal with dead ball time due to shenanigans.

So they should replace it with a clock that stops on dead balls and shorten the halves - it would make the game better.

it's just really silly to call the U.S.'s group a hard one with ghana being in there and portugal being a broken team

I view Portugal's performance in this world cup as just like what happened to West Virginia that year they were the best team in the world, and then K-State utterly destroyed them and they were a joke for the rest of the season; they were simply broken on that day, and lost all their heart for the rest of the way.


I think the U.S. actually has a ton of flaws, and some of them are directly results of him. I think it's just a team that really, really, really wants to win, and if you're a respectable team the extent to which they want it will take you a long way.


In terms of actual play on the field... the U.S. is still generally far short of England outside of some brief moments of brilliance. But I suppose that's why they're interested in Jurgen, since we're generally finishing better than England is these days in spite of that.


I also think in a couple years people are going to be reeeeeeal curious as to why he didn't let Johann's son back in after that first game where he didn't appear to do anything wrong. Kid is goooooooood.
