Early preview to air next month on ABC

It looks like we won't have to wait for San Diego Comic-Con to get our first look at Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron. ABC has announced that we will get an early glimpse of the film next month!

The network will air a one-hour special called Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe, and it goes behind the scenes of the Marvel empire. The special will include a sneak peek of Age of Ultron, as well as new footage from some of Marvel's other upcoming releases like Captain America: The Winter Solider and Guardians of the Galaxy.

The announcement says that the special will give viewers a “front row seat to the inception of Marvel Studios, the record-breaking films, the cultural phenomenon, and further expansion of the universe by Marvel Television.”

The special will premiere on Tuesday, March 18th at 8 p.m.

IMAX Release Confirmed, Brian Tyler to be the Composer

“Lights, camera, action!” are ordinarily what come to mind when someone is thinking of creating a movie, but there are many other aspects of a production that must be decided in order to create that cinematic event you see in theaters, all the way down to costumes, makeup and the music that could inevitably make or break the material.

For the sake of continuity, these details become even more important when you’re dealing with an ongoing and expanding series like the Marvel movie franchise. To date, Marvel Studios has released or scheduled twelve very different superhero movies with nine unique composers, which makes their latest decision to keep one around a little longer a very interesting choice indeed.

Film Music Reporter has confirmed that Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World composer Brian Tyler will soon get to score The Avengers: Age of Ultron, while former Avengers composer Alan Silvestri has moved on to other films. This means that in Phase Two, only political thriller Captain America: The Winter Soldier and space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy will be scored by different composers.

With a career spanning almost twenty years, Tyler’s resume includes The Expendables series, the Fast and the Furious franchise, the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot and my personal favorite, Sci-Fi miniseries Children of Dune, whose soundtrack reached #4 on Amazon’s charts.

So while his work in the Marvel universe hasn’t been extremely memorable, he’s proven himself capable of creating exciting action pieces and his reputation is on the rise.

Meanwhile, Disney has also announced their extended partnership with IMAX:

Under the agreement, IMAX will be part of Disney’s release strategy for its most highly-anticipated live-action tentpole films, including Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 2014), Maleficent (May 2014), Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (August 2014), and Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 2015), Tomorrowland (May 2015) and Star Wars: Episode VII (December 2015).

Between Marvel’s superhero films, Star Wars, fantasy adaptations like Maleficent as well as originals like Tomorrowland, Walt Disney Studios currently has the biggest films ripe for the latest in cutting-edge technology, so it makes perfect that they’d continue their relationship with IMAX into the future. There’s no word yet, however, on whether the studio is planning to use IMAX cameras to shoot any upcoming films.
