Paul Bettany confirms his role of The Vision
We have been speculating about the role Paul Bettany will play in Avengers: Age of Ultron ever since we knew there was going to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The earliest hint that he could play Vision was in August of last year. Variety called it confirmed back in February. On Friday, the actor confirmed it himself.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Bettany, who currently voices Tony Stark’s computer, said he was making the jump from JARVIS to an actual appearance onscreen as Vision.

It's very exciting for me, but everything is a double edged sword, right? Because I was playing JARVIS for years and my job was I would turn up at a recording studio for 45 minutes, do all my stuff, and then they would give me a huge bag of cash and then I'd go home. Now it turns out they've found me out and they want me to actually do something!
Bettany said the filmmakers “pick and choose” which of Vision’s comic book powers he will have on screen.

I can do all sorts of things, but I'm not allowed to really talk about them and what we're going to do because there might be a Marvel agent in the room who will actually wrestle me to the ground and fire me.

Lou Ferrigno to voice The Hulk, Ruffalo drops set teasers via twitter
Now that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a bonafide hit (both at the box office and among reviewers), attention now turns to the final “Phase 2″ Marvel movies – Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers: Age of Ultron. No doubt, with the announcement of Captain America 3, along with rumors of a Doctor Strange movie, the studio has far-reaching plans (all the way to 2028) but before fans get worked into a frenzy over the new adventures we might see in “Phase 3″ and beyond, the studio is still busy preparing two of its most ambitious projects to date.

For now, Guardians of the Galaxy is locked away in post-production and we’re at the mercy of the official marketing machine; however, thanks to a steady stream of set photos and interviews with the ensemble cast, production on The Avengers: Age of Ultron continues to provide intriguing details along with some downright silly glimpses behind the scenes. As a result, it should come as no surprise that today we’re privy to an exciting confirmation as well as tongue-in-cheek antics on The Avengers 2 set.

Speaking with Nuke the Fridge at last week’s WonderCon, former Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno confirmed that he is returning to voice the mighty green “other guy” in The Avengers sequel. While the confirmation shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, especially to viewers who already knew that Ferrigno voiced the character in several animated films as well as The Incredible Hulk (where he got to say “Hulk Smash”) and The Avengers (where he was responsible for the character’s grunts and roars), there was always the possibility that Joss Whedon would simply alter the voice of Bruce Banner, and Hulk motion capture, actor Mark Ruffalo – as he did with the “Puny God” line in the prior film.

It’s unclear at this point what exactly “voicing” the character indicates and the source report doesn’t provide any context for what the actor might have been saying. Does Ferrigno just mean that he’s just supplying monster noises again – since Ruffalo was responsible for the Hulk’s dialogue in The Avengers – or will Ferrigno be expanding his duties and supplying the character’s entire audio track? Most likely, the comment is simply confirmation that he’s back for select vocals with Ruffalo being utilized for the “speaking” parts. After all, the design for The Avengers‘ Hulk was based on Ruffalo’s appearance, facial expressions, and movement – because Whedon wanted the audience to see the man inside the monster. For that reason, it wouldn’t have been a complete shock if the director had decided that including Ferrigno’s voice in The Avengers: Age of Ultron (at all) would be more trouble than it is actually worth. Nevertheless, Ferrigno (and his recent contributions to the character) are a fun nod to fans that remember the good old days of Bill Bixby’s David Bruce Banner paired with Ferrigno, a Brooklyn body-builder, painted head-to-toe in green make-up.

Given the character’s scene stealing line in The Avengers, moviegoers will likely be hoping to hear Ferrigno and Ruffalo get a few more opportunities to flex vocal chords in Age of Ultron – especially since the first movie implied that Banner was beginning to gain some control over his monstrous alter-ego. That said, anyone familiar with the Mean Green Machine will know that a chatty Hulk probably isn’t in the cards, yet (at least not until the oft-rumored Hulk solo film sequel). Still, Whedon is a major fan of the character, as evidenced by his ability to turn one of Marvel’s least successful live-action protagonists into an Avengers scene-stealer, so there’s plenty of reason to expect that whatever the filmmaker has written into the script for Ruffalo and Ferrigno, it should be memorable.

Ultron’s personality discussed, More villains means more conflict, more action on the screen
The Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently in production, and therefore, the sequel to Marvel’s billion-dollar superhero team-up is making headlines every day. While set photos and videos provide clues to what’s coming in Avengers 2, the cast and crew have been more savvy this time around, managing the flow of information or outright teasing fans through social media.

They’ve also been careful with the selection and timing of their words – and today, director Joss Whedon is feeding fans a little more about the villains (plural) that The Avengers team will face in the sequel, plus a bit more about what version of the killer robot Ultron we will see on the screen.

If you are not already neck-deep in Marvel Movie Universe info, Avengers 2 will see the team first facing the threat of HYDRA leader Baron von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) and his new super-powered “miracles,” Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Thereafter, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will have to save the world from a new robotic intelligence named Ultron (James Spader), a classic foe from Avengers comics who is being given a new origin story for the movie universe.

In speaking with Empire, Whedon had the following to say about how they are shaping James Spader’s Ultron for the movie:

I’m having a blast with Ultron. He’s not a creature of logic – he’s a robot who’s genuinely disturbed. We’re finding out what makes him menacing and at the same time endearing and funny and strange and unexpected, and everything a robot never is.
James Spader will be providing a motion-capture performance in addition to voice work to create Ultron for the screen; if you’ve seen the actor’s recent work on the NBC espionage hit The Blacklist, you know that Spader’s offbeat mannerisms and timing are uniquely suited to creating an interesting villain – particularly the type of robotic character that Whedon described in those five adjectives (menacing, endearing, funny, strange, unexpected).

In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if we eventually learn that Spader had a lot of input and say about his performance or any changes to dialogue or action – much the same way Robert Downey Jr. has had a major voice in crafting the Tony Stark character. What good is hiring such high-caliber performers if not to let them do their thing? Personally I can’t wait to see James Spader by way of a killer robot – and I get goosebumps when I think of seeing he and RDJ getting weird and/or funny with each other onscreen when Ultron and Tony Stark inevitably square off. Talk about ‘Clash of the Titans’….

We already know that Baron von Strucker and Ultron will be battling The Avengers; Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will seemingly start on the bad side; and concept art and set photos confirm that Ultron will have robot minions to command – and there’s not word yet on whether or not Paul Bettany’s Vision will also start out a villain in accordance to his comic book origins . In a post-Spider-Man 3 world, comic book movie fans tend to get nervous whenever they see a film with more than two villains. So: Is Age of Ultron too bloated with baddies? Here’s what Whedon has to say about it:

I fiercely dislike the idea of just throwing in more people for the sake of doing that. But last time I had all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes versus one British character actor, and I needed more conflict.
With its globe-trotting production and ambitious two-part storyline, Avengers: Age of Ultron seems like it is going to be a bigger film in every sense of the word; but the danger with sequels (especially sequels in a billion-dollar blockbuster genre) is that “bigger” doesn’t always mean better. Statements like this from Whedon will no doubt rally the usual “In Whedon/Marvel/Avengers/Feige we trust!” supporters, but it’s early yet, and we still have yet to see how this all comes together.

So I'm gonna guess that in this new villain origin story Tony Stark creates Ultron?

Seems to be a decent enough storyline.

Also movies these days give up way too much storyline before we actually get to watch it.

It's more or less a logical extension from the end of Iron Man 3, and pretty much amounts to the comic book version with Stark swapped for Pym.

Yeah, like I said earlier in the thread, I'd put money down its Tony making Ultron benevolently and it goes nuts. Was in some Marvel cartoon movie, dealt with all the Avengers' kids.

EDIT: This one http://marvel.wikia.com/Next_Avenger...es_of_Tomorrow. It doesnt say it in that synopsis, but Tony built Ultron.

I'm going to bet he makes an automated mk44 or something that acts as Iron Man for him so that he can chillax. He gives it AI and it goes nuts for one reason or the other and starts making improvements on itself.

I wouldn't rule out some third party infecting Tony's AI.

One way or the other, it will surely lead to the other Avengers blaming Tony for everything.
Plus, that gives Stark himself enough reasons to come back from IM3 retirement.

    Pretty much:

    Spoiler: show

He creates another batch of Iron Legion drones and has Ultron control them as their captain so he can "retire" and have them deal with threats. He imbues part of his personality into Ultron, but the AI only acts upon Tony Starks cynical side and determines that all of humanity is a threat.
