The funny part about the picking up Thor's Hammer joke is when it was Black Widow's turn to try. She casually avoids the challenge, but she actually wields it in the comics.

That was the point. Was paying homage to that alternate version of the character. Same with Captain America budging the hammer. I'm pretty sure Cap could pick it up in the cinematic universe, but stopped just short of doing so.

I liked that they chose to pass over her bit in the trailer, but we got it for a real deal.
