    I don't think that's what mioko was going for. But after seeing the Meteor limit break, I can totally see the primals being a part of it with a Summoner in the party. Whether or not that's triggered with that whole special week-free company thing is another matter.

    I was kinda hoping for new demons/gods to summon outside of the primals myself. Can't wait for him to sheepishly walk out and go 'Alright guys. You caught me! Here's the Summoner info.'

    Id wager if the Summoner gets any "castable" esper/eidolon/spirit whatever that they'll be along the variety seen in FFTactics like Salamander, Mist Dragon (FFIV I know), Golem, Sylph, Faerie, Bismarck (FFVI), etc.

    Hell, It would destroy lore but I wouldnt mind seeing the Seiken Densetsu elementals show up. Shade/Lumina would be kinda cool.

    It also seems like with this they are indeed sticking with a 1 class = 1 job pairing. It makes it easier to introduce future jobs/classes but to me feels a little bland in terms of expanding the possible jobs available. I would have much preferred a Job lvl x + Job lvl x = Class Y unlocked.

    You're severely misunderstanding.

    one time use summons: ifrit/garuda/titan/etc.
    normal summons: siren/other lesser avatars/etc.

    I am not too concerned about which summons are given so much as how the class plays. Maybe it's cause I played all the FFs and love them all that I'm not so biased.

    I'm just hoping the job is a true pet class and not something that we trigger a WS for the summon to pop out, do its thing and disappear. Would that be a deal breaker though? ... I honestly don't know.

    Actually, it just occurred to me. Has Bahamut ever been presented in anything? I'm not speculating summoners would get it but I just realized his absence.

    I really want that Fenrir mount now though. Le damn that has me excited.

    So how about what might finally be the new healer class we're overdue for? How will ACN be healing if it does? i.e. Learning about Summoners summoning was interesting for about 5 minutes. What about the holes in game balance this shit is meant to fill?

    It's been stated that more jobs will be added in the future (even for classes that already have jobs), but yes, for release it will be a 1:1 ratio.

    Healing classes have always been a pain to fill in a MMO. Mostly cause very few people want to be a healer.
    I don't see Summoner being the answer to this need unless Carbuncle is the god of healing magic and I've completely misjudged the angle of summoner since Summoner debuted on Final Fantasy.

    Ok but why would the make such a big deal about the primals if they were so severely limited in use? Read the descriptions for the other jobs and you'll see my point. They don't even mention lesser primals/summons in the Summoner page, they only talk about the primals.
    I'm simply basing my argument on what we actually know and not assumptions about this or that being linked. If we get official confirmation I'll agree but until then it's stupid to assume that the Company system and this new job will be the same thing, especially when Yoshida clearly stated that anyone can use the item to call the Primal.
    All I'm saying is that new information is more revelant and correct compared to old interviews. Trying to cling onto one year old statements when it's been clearly proven that things have changed since then is silly and cannot be considered a good base for any argument.

    If ACN/SMN can't be mained as a healer then it's fan-service crap that only serves to poison the game. What the fuck do we need another DD for? Being a DD/support wouldn't fix the problem either, because we only have 1 dedicated healer and we don't necessarily need a new support (yet).

    And why do we need another healer exactly? A new healer class/job is not going to magically change anyone's mind. If someone doesn't like healing then he'll also avoid the new class. Summoner could easily fit into the healer,buffer and DD categories depending on pet for all we know.

    The people who refuse to level CON/WHM is because it's a healing job. The people who have leveled it like healing/did it for the crown. I will be part of that "did it for the crown" when I finish it.

    Did it for the crown. I hate healing.

    I don't expect ACN/SMN to be locked into any sort of healing role.

    Considering that BLM is solid DD and WHM is solid Healer... I don't expect ACN/SMN to be much more than one of those "versatile" class/jobs that suffers from being a jack of all trades and a master at none... which sucks because those kinds of classes are actually fun to play because of their build and playstyle variety.

    The only mage role that needs to be filled at this time is pure (non-healing) support and/or debuffer.

    I don't bother understanding why you or 2 of my other LS members like it. I'm just glad you guys exist.
    Keep that healing thing going.

    To be honest, the only time I liked healing in FFXI was on Puppetmaster. WHM automaton healing was the only kind of healing I was okay with.

    Oh man I am gonna be all over this shit at launch. SMN has always been my favourite job, it'll be interesting to see how they implement it in this game in comparison to XI. Excite! Can't wait for more details.

    So you guys are ok with this becoming exactly like FFXI with two-thirds the classes being DDs with a wide range of play types but only a handful of tanking or healing classes? Fine, we'll have a glut of unused DD players in FFXIV just like last time. A person not liking healing is the fault of the designer. If they can't make the role appealing, then the role shouldn't exist.

    Dancer was their best attempt at making a class appeal to those who would normally not play it. We'll see!
