I saw that video, got shared on Jalopnik. Dude pulls off lot with his brand new truck, stomps the gas, thing breaks and goes into limp mode in about one second.
Not surprised they pulled it, it's a terrible look and he's a manbaby.
Fucking Tesla cars have always been shit a shitpool of QA issues. I looked into a Model 3 back in 2021 and immediately was turned off due to the cabin not being sealed properly at times, the OS updates fucking up your shit since they are no knobs or anything. I've read/heard people comparing it to when Photoshop updates and you're like "WHERE THE FUCK DID THE BUTTONS GO FOR THE SHIT I NEED?" but this time you're also driving when you realize the buttons moved. People sending back Tesla's over and over again and them coming back still janky as fuck and broken in places until the person just gives up and accepts delivery.
I really don't like the touch screen only thing. I like to change the radio or adjust air while driving and that is super unsafe with a touch screen. Certain things need to be physical buttons and not imbedded in the touch screen. Fuck I hope that trend goes away. You know ignoring all the QC issues with teslas etc.
in the EU, vehicles can no longer attain the max safety rating unless they have physical controls (knobs or switches) for temperature control, cruise control, wipers, turn signals. i think volume control too but i'm not sure. perhaps we can do something similar
a great many new cars suck with this too; it's not just Tesla. i can never let my 2005 vehicle go while automakers create such shite
You get used to the touchscreen in like a week, it's not a big deal.

No you don't you can't control a touchscreen by feel alone. On the freeway and want to change temp? You have to take your eyes off the road. Touchscreen needs to be for superfluous functions only or things that you change when not driving. Anything you regularly access while driving should be illegal to have buried in a touch screen.
You also get used to knobs in like a week

Radio can be controlled from the steering wheel for a lot of cars nowadays and all the information can be conveniently displayed on the Dash as well which is in front of you so no need to look off to the side or move your hands from the wheel.
The man says all this as lane assist and lane following assist are on.

This is correct. Physical controls are much safer and more importantly allows you to train your motor skills for specific tasks.
Airbus A350 cockpit is a state of art, technological marvel and the manufacturer heavily favors automation. Yet anything that is used for flight, from least to most critical has a physical switch, knob or a button. A knob gives you way more precision and control than any touchscreen solution can.
Navigation setups and other stuff like precise radio tuning can be touchscreen as they should be considered head down activities, where you should be stationary and safe.
Magellan was also eaten by cannibals and never made it home so not exactly the pinnacle of navigation he is made out to be.
