All things consider, 84 gallons is not a lot o_O

It shouldn't happen, but man that makes me wonder if they can get it to the point where it really doesn't leak that much at all.

The leak had happened during the first week of April while a pump station is being tested. The pipeline is still not in operation. The thing that is getting to activists is that it took a month for this to come to light and also they've been told that because this pipeline is "state-of-the-art," leaks won't happen. I do remember reading this, but the reference is now buried deep thanks to this latest news. SD's DNR did make a statement saying that they record 200-300 pipeline leaks a year.

Well it was reported, but not blasted on CNN for 12 hours. They're complaining that the oil company didn't do more to expose the very small oil spill that was immediately cleaned up with no problems, at a testing station that is used for...testing. I just don't see this as the fight to pick up to try and bring light to the problem, because as far as I can tell they did a pretty decent job in a situation where I'd expect there to be small accidents, like in testing.

First production ready (Vin#1) model 3 rolled off the assembly line yesterday. An investor who was the first to put a full deposit ($35K) was first in line however he relinquished the rights and gave his spot to Elon for his birthday.

Model 3 final specs and upgrade costs will be revealed tonight along with the online car configurator becoming available to those who reserved early. Based on some JSON data that was found on one of Tesla's pages (it's since been removed), the Model 3 with an upgraded battery pack might do 316 miles on a single charge.

The real surprise is there's a higher range model (310mi) with better acceleration. Elon had said a while ago that the only options at initial release would be paint and tires to keep things simple.

Holding out better range/performance and AWD in the 45-50k range.

Saw a model 3 today with a bad driver attached. Took almost a mile to switch lanes, had the seat so close to the wheel that they looked like they were being scrunched. Super cautious with their new baby.

When I woke up this morning after last nights reveal and mytesla page updated with delivery info:

Since I waited a week to reserve, my ability to configure got pushed out by about 5 months as people who reserved at the stores are getting Sept/October configuration dates.

As far as the configs go, basically right now first orders are forced to get the Long Range battery (+$9,000) and Premium Upgrade Options (+$5,000) which is why the price is set at $49,000. Premium upgrade options include upgraded stereo, glass roof (over the driver), auto power folding heated mirrors, heated seats, memory seat position profiles, 2x USB phone docks in the center console, and LED foglights. Sometime around Sept/October, you will be able to order the bigger battery version without the requirement of the Premium Upgrade and a choice of the white interior, and then in November, they will begin selling the $35,0000 base version with 220 miles of range. AWD Dual Motors will be available sometime around Spring of next year which is supposed to be less than $5,000.

Also paint for all colors except black is $1,000 extra, and the wheels you see in the photo above are $1,500.

There is no way there would be HUD on the model 3 unless it hit the Model S/X first. Those two cars are considered the technology leaders in the Tesla family. It's been a big inside joke in the Model 3 community though as you tend to see random posts about HUD being confirmed everytime there is some kind of announcement.

Actually two options: one is the phone app and the second is a Key Card which is a little bit bigger than a business card that you scan on the B pillar to lock/unlock.

Key card would be fine if you could just keep it in your wallet or purse and not think about it, like a modern keyless fob.

Don't understand what they're doing otherwise.

Still have to remote start from phone? Still have to auto park or back up from phone and not fob clicks? Trunk opening from phone?

It doesn't have a power liftgate, so if it's like my, uh, 2015 Leaf you can just walk up to the rear hatch with the key in your pocket and open it. Doesn't sound like the keycard works like that though so dumb.

Remote start isn't very remote if you have to be within clicker range to do it, having that on the phone app makes sense.

Autopark and summon are stupid gimmicks.
