I don't expect anything from a CEO of any company other than for them to work in their own interest. After all, why should anyone, is it any different from someone putting on the charm at work or on a first date?
The celebrity status of people is just a matter of waiting for something to upset you from people everyone pays too much attention to who aren't any more benevolent than we are. Who cares if Musk or someone puts on an act to better their company? His companies are pushing interest in electric/solar and space, and that is where my fucks start and stop being given.
Idolization is just naively setting oneself up for disappointment, and that is what people have done for Musk, so fuck the people.

Billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, a man widely hailed as a world leader in the fight to combat climate change, has doled out nearly 7 times as much cash to Republican campaigns and political committees this election cycle as he has to Democratic ones.

Since the start of 2017, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has personally contributed $88,900 to Republicans, while he gave those on the other side of the aisle $13,300, according to a HuffPost review of Federal Election Commission data.
In other news this will be totally fine and not hurt Elon Musk's reputation at all.

I can't tell but I think their rationale is from the shallow point of view that dems are the only supporters of electric/solar/renewable energy and because he's not supporting dems then his image will be ruined, or something. But no, it really shouldn't effect how people view him.

But filings show Musk also gave $50,000 to a joint fundraising committee run by his friend House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). From this $50,000 donation, McCarthy’s committee sent $39,600 to the National Republican Congressional Committee, $5,000 to McCarthy’s leadership PAC Majority Committee and $5,400 to McCarthy’s campaign.

McCarthy, a climate change skeptic with a dismal 3 percent lifetime score from the League of Conservation Voters, joined other Republicans last year in applauding President Donald Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the historic Paris climate accord.
    From the article.

im no fan of lobbying and money in politics but it's the way it is... and even if it wasn't who cares if Elon Musk is hardcore republican and donated 1000x more to them, is it really that upsetting that he may disagree politically with you? Not that I even think he does.

Idk what else to say here, if you haven't seen how Musk is leveraging his support of/from republicans to increase boring co/space x's value then please go do some more research outside of your huffingtonpost (lol) article. The dude isn't tarnishing his image he's increasing stakeholder value.

Also what Day says above. He can agree with Republican politics (even if he disagrees on one subject, which would probably be climate change/global warming, and to be fair that's debatable for anyone) and still be held in favor by people in either party.

It's $5.80 in the UK, netherlands is over $6.

I think spains the cheapest, maybe around $5.50

It's even more frustrating seeing how slow the big european automakers are moving towards EVs. Give 50k teslas/week production over here pleeeeeease.

I'm surprised that we haven't seen a further hike of gas prices in the EU yet to subsidize the growing EV market. You bois are usually on the front end of that.

I think hiking the price is seen as regressive as middle/upper class can afford to switch to EVs while the poors can't.

I think pushing for legalisation/subidising light electric vehicles/transportation is the way to go ( think ebikes/escooters ) to help the working class more but it seems to be taking a while for old white people who are chauffeur driven to realise this.

eg a xiaomi scooter limited to 15mph ( that are rebranded in the us tech cities to whatever this weeks VC brand is ) - not legal in most of europe, despite the cost/efficiency being off the charts compared to other options.

There is already an NIMBY movement from a bunch of cities in California against Bird and Lime because the electric scooter rental business is too loosely regulated and human beings are trash with no courtesy.

Seems less NIMBY and more "Pay taxes and fees like other businesses. Also have insurance."

I'm < 1mile from the beach at either end of my commute, time to invest in one of these:
