Interesting article about how current auto Li-ion batteries are going to strain global nickel and especially cobalt supplies by 2030, and we need more common anode/cathode materials to be developed.

TSLA jumps 16% today after reporting their biggest ever quarterly loss yesterday evening.
Spoiler: show
It's like their huge investment in R&D is paying off.
Man, I want to see them reach 10k/week just to see what that one saboteur says at his court case lol.
The thing is, even if they do show a profit for a couple quarters to calm investors down and pants the shorts, they still need to burn more cash to keep growing. They need more gigafactories, service facilities, superchargers, etc. etc. to keep growing and that requires investment.
I don't think a comparison to other car makers is how I'd benchmark TSLA. I'd compare them to Amazon. They are building infrastructure and creating a new market.
Gigafactory 2 in Buffalo is nearly done
Gigafactory Europe is in the pipeline.
They have to (like Amazon) build everything they need because it simply doesn't exist. Amazon created an entire 3PL system and revolutionized point-to-point shipping and storage and it cost them a FORTUNE. It's also driven their revenue into the stratosphere, allowing them to continue to invest back into the company.
If TSLA continues to show tiny profits forever, no one will care. For the same reason that no one cares about huge profit numbers from Amazon, that's not the business model.
Tesla increased the price of paint for all colors except black by $500 on the Model 3 and also increased the destination/doc fee by $200. Additionally the Performance Model 3 is now part of the referral program which now gives Unlimited Supercharging for life, but the program changes September 16th of this year where it will then change over from unlimited lifetime supercharging down to 1 year only for free. Crazy timing because I finally got access to my tesla referral links lol.
Destination fee for all vehicles has gone up so it's not surprising to see Tesla increase their fee as well. This is in response to driver regulations I believe.
Who wants a Tesla in anything but black anyway amirite?
I always found the white to be the worst, but I also have yet to see a green so
At least in the bay area, the 3 most common colors I see are Red, White and Black. I don't know why anyone would drive a white car up here with how shitty the roads are and all the rocks that hit your car while driving, just asking to be scratched the hell up.
Scratches are the least obvious on white cars. While they are most obvious on black and red is basically the worst color maintenance wise for anything that sees the sun.
Dark silver / Gunmetal is the best car color. Fight me.
Royal blue is good.
