I mean it was bad, but it wasn't nearly as catastrophic as people made it out to be. It was more a hit to the image than anything else. With the modification you lost 2 mpg, so instead of 44 mpg you got 42. Oh no!

Their eGolf gets like 125 mile range I think? If they invest more time into their electric They should be able to bring that up by quite a bit considering some of the competitors like the Chevy Bolt get better range.

What stuff are you talking about? I think the Standard Range is fine and distance shouldn't be too much of a problem.

LA to Vegas is a metric I use since I tend to go there a few times a year. It is doable mainly because there are 4 supercharging stations between Hesperia and Vegas that you can hit up on the way, so you have a choice where to stop to charge which doesn't take long because superchargers are pretty damn quick (Version 2 does 460ish miles/hr at 120kW and the new Version 3 Superchargers do 1000 miles/hr). As far as price goes, if you just limit your options (Black Paint, Aero Wheels, Black Interior) you are looking at around $40,000 including tax for the LA area and DMV fees. You can then subtract your order deposit ($2,500) so it's about $37,500. You will also get $3750 for Federal Tax Credit to offset and then $2500 back from the state in the EV rebate. Just a heads up on the State EV rebate...mine took a total of two and a half months to receive after submitting the paperwork because they are backed up with a lot of applications. This was back in October when I submitted mine and the current estimates on their website shows about a 95 day turnaround.

Also the new CleanAir Access stickers (purple) expire Jan 1st, 2023, so you would be able to drive in the carpool lane until then.

We’re leaning on Tesla - but we could only really afford the very base model. And just not sure if that’s a good deal.

Work out the cost/mile based on efficiency and your electricity prices vs the cost of an ICE car over your intended ownership period. factor in lower maintenance costs on the tesla as well.
Theres plenty of youtube vids doing the breakdowns.

Sucks to not have traffic on the maps, can't really comment on the cloth seats because I haven't seen them. The rest of the perks (upgraded audio/streaming, fog lights, whatever) are hardly necessary. Do you need heated seats? Where do you live?

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

    Are power seats important?
Do you need premium audio sound (14 speakers plus sub)
Do you care about using slacker for streaming music?
Would you mind streaming music via Bluetooth from your phone?
Is homelink auto garage door opener important?
    Do you need fog lamps?
Do you care about having a place to lay your cell phone flat in a dock to charge?

If you answered No to all of those, then the base model will work in terms of features. Also from what I recall Tesla is going to open up the premium connectivity as a paid service of possibly $100/yr to get traffic data, satellite maps, and music streaming.

As far as range is concerned on the Base Model, realistically you are going to set your charge limit to 90% daily to keep the batteries healthy so you are looking at 198 miles of range. You only charge to full right before taking a road trip where you use the energy immediately. Also if you own a home you can get the High Power Wall charger installed by an electrician which charges at 44mi/hr. I would definitely look at your commute in miles and then also check your current electricity rates. Some electric companies have a time of use plan where it is cheaper to charge after a certain time.

Tesla stock got blown out this morning (down 8%) because deliveries were well below estimates for Q1, way below Q4 2018.

A small portion of the issues were due to difficulties with importing the cars into foreign countries. I believe China suspended Model 3 imports for a short while due to the windshield washer reservoir (or maybe something else) being labeled in English. Q2 will definitely be better, but the stock is going to take a hit for a while.

Yeah, they're just getting M3 exports going - Norway sold more Model 3s in March than all ICE-only cars combined.

People are forever gonna be bearish on Tesla. As long as sales are strong enough to keep cash on hand to keep paying down debts then idgaf. That's my one concern for the long term health of the company.

Got the model 3 standard plus version yesterday and I just have to say I've been blown away. The entire process was so much easier / straight forward than normal car buying. The car itself feels like a god damned next century space craft compared to other new cars I've bought. Everything is just so nice, feels high quality, drives amazingly. The operating system is intuitive.

I've been hesitant to get on the Tesla bandwagon, assuming the stock was over-inflated, but these cars are just so much better than everything else out there.

Got the car for my fiance since I have a Porsche (grew up loving Porsches), but honestly I like her Model 3 more than my Porsche now lol.

Different girl. I was finally able to remove the other girl from my life and move on. Took some counseling and some good friends. One of those good friends is a girl that I've been close friends with for the last few years. We both had feelings for each other, but both had some growing to do. But we decided to spend last Thanksgiving together and things just flowed together. We were planning our wedding a week later and I proposed on Christmas morning. Getting married this August in Malibu. Been super happy and it's so nice to be in a healthy functional relationship after being with a toxic one for so long.

    Congrats on the car.

If you haven't done so already, grab a 32 GB USB stick format it was FAT32, create a new folder in the USB called "TeslaCam" without quotes, and stick it into one of the USB ports in the center console. This will use the AP cameras as a DashCam while driving and it will save 1 minute clips to the USB drive for up to 1 hour before overwriting them. If you have an incident or need to save some footage, tap the camera icon on the upper right side of the screen next to your profile name and it will earmark the last 10 minutes of footage as to not overwrite it. Also, you can enable Sentry Mode thru the app or the console after you park where the car will automatically record any movement from the side AP cameras and front facing camera. It has worked wonders as it caught someone breaking into a Model 3 up in San Francisco and the cops arrested the guy due to the footage.

Also you can access your Easter Egg drawer by taping the T icon and then swiping down. This gives you access to Mars Maps, Raindeer Mode, the Paint App, Romance Mode, Atari Games, and the Whoopee cushion sound board
