"it's not autopilot" as they call it autopilot. It's just far too tempting to take your eyes off the road when it's driving itself

Ok, so Tesla is iterating towards level 5 automated driving and right now Tesla owners are the beta testers generating training data. The bug they have found is that sometimes Teslas run into parked cars.

The rest of society is getting better automated driving at the cost of a few parked cars (prob no occupants) and a few opt-in early adopters.

Feels like winning.

"Drive assist" is my preferred option. I'd be too scared to look away especially on city streets with pedestrians, cyclists, busses, and drivers that shouldn't be allowed to drive.

Actually the auto-pilot performance (and in general, altitude, heading, airspeed etc.) has to be constantly monitored by the flight crew throughout the flight. Contrary to popular belief it assists, does not replace the operator.

In general autopilot is an amazing tool that significantly reduce overall cockpit workload, allow you to focus on other aspects but overdependence could cause loss of situational awareness which is very critical for flight safety (AirFrance 447).

i guess it kind of depends on how we define wealth. i am thinking like, absolute wealthiest of the wealthy, top 50 type dudes. and in that regard, i guess you could maybe make an argument that he has a peer in masa who is also incredibly stupid, but in masa's defense at least he's dumb in a way that's kind of funny from time to time

now if we're talking just plain old rich, total population is the entirety of the top 1%, that group is substantially larger and yeah you're probably gonna find a few guys that are dumber. but! none whose stupidity has the reach & impact that elon's does
