He's not a moron, but he ain't Nikola Tesla either, more like Edison.

Don't forget that they also exist because in Tesla's case he bought his way in and in SpaceX's he paid someone else to do all the work while he was the public-facing credit-taker.

Sure but neither of those would be around without his presence, and we're likely better off with both of those companies existing regardless of one's feelings about Musk.
think the culture's obsession with celebrity obfuscates that fundamental point. Tesla and SpaceX are both in their own ways investments in humanity's future, and as pioneers in their respective fields helped engineer the present zeitgeist of green capitalism and reinvigorating moribund space programs. Elon Musk as a human only tangentially matters (unless you're Grimes).
I thought the market is so efficient in it's motivations of profit that it always fills its own needs!
Rather than capturing projects, hiring people to run them for you, and taking the lion share of reward and credit. There are equally or more qualified individuals out there. Who if they had the same means would also contribute to such levels of technological advancement. However, since they lack the same privilege we won't ever know them.
lets give everyone a billion dollars and see what happens
do you think it's a good idea to be able to pass down any wealth or what amount do u begin to become militantly opposed
So in the framework of our capitalist structure. Yeah, every family that worked hard and built something wants to pass that down to their children. There's nothing wrong with that.
What happens though is it disproportionately affects the wealthy and increases inequality over time. So it's not Joe Blow passing on money that's the issue. It's the aristocracy that forms as a result of abusing such generational wealth building. Same reason minorities are statically behind as they were denied generations of building wealth.
The idea that Elon is the beneficiary of significant generational wealth and not simply an early tech startup founder that got a big exit is just wrong.
they hate to see a winner win
yall had plenty of chances to be rich if u werent dumb smh
Musk came from money growing up but as I've always understood that didn't have too much to do with his later success.
He rode the dot com boom perfectly, forming a startup with his brother (where yeah he probably had an advantage in seed money) selling that company and turning that money into what was eventually Paypal, selling that years later and moving on to the Musk we know today.
The man is a loon but clearly a very good businessman who has used his resources to provide an overall boon to humankind.
If you come from money it is almost impossible for it to not have a lot to do with your successes. Granted he is a really good business man but there are a lot of really good business people or people with really good ideas that are never able to get anywhere with their ideas or businesses.
