Nike shoe to cost about $300

Some models of Nike's LeBron X basketball shoe — named for Miami Heat superstar LeBron James — will cost about $300, according to The Wall Street Journal and other media outlets.

The LeBron X Nike Plus is expected to have motion sensors that can measure how high a player jumps. There are conflicting reports on the shoe's price and release date; The Wall Street Journal said it will cost $315 and be released in the fall.

Matt Powell, an analyst for SportsOneSource, told ESPN he believes the LeBron X Nike Plus will cost $290 and said he expects Nike to make about 50,000 pairs. Powell told ESPN he expects Nike to make 200,000 to 300,000 pairs of the LeBron X without motion sensors; he said those shoes will retail for about $175.

James wore the shoe at the London Olympics on Aug. 12, when he helped the U.S. team beat Spain 107-100 for the gold medal.
