What the fuck are you going to post in general?

People will always need news and overly obvious solutions to life spelled out for them, but is it a problem if GD itself isn't active? This seems to be a reoccurring concern about a sports sub-forum, but is it an actual problem?

4. Make the BG blogs more prevalent. Something like this. Allow community submissions, subject to mod approval.

Yes to both, and re: blogs: as far as I know the current procedure is to submit a sample to Sono to be approved as a blogger for regular submissions, but I think it would be neat for someone who's just interested in doing a one-off on a particular subject/game to be able to submit a blog entry for admin approval, too.

I'd like to be able to hide threads. Basically if I go to General or Entertainment I have to skim past a significant number of threads that I will never want to read because I'm not interested in that specific sport or television show.

Also I really like this if only for differentiating between posters when you can't have more than a vague idea of who actually knows what they're talking about. There's plenty of people in the Tech forum who answers questions in the RQT and PC Build thread who I'd like to see recognized, too, if only to convey "you can probably trust this person's opinion."

Problem is in the end it inevitably turns into a popularity contest. Part of the reason why I stopped posting on Zam years ago and came here was because too many people would get smacked down because they weren't part of the clique within whatever community they posted in.

I also like the idea of splitting the Dev Tracker thread into one thread just for official announcements and another for discussion, similar to the way the .dat mining threads are done.

And expanding on that idea, possibility for user to define x-number of suchs buttons in the top bar (not subscriptions mind you).
Drop down menu or not, whatever would work. And then it would prolly need some intelligence in it for cases where the thread the button points to ceases to exist.

Could threads have more than the last page available on the thread view? Like for example in the anime sub-forum my options for the one piece thread are jumping directly to pages "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ... 218". It would be nice to have "1 2 3 4 5 ... 216 217 218" instead or something like that.

Has customizable skins been pitched yet? I don't even know if that's possible or not, but that'd be kinda sweet. Like make your own UI type of thing to a degree

I know someone suggested having the ability to select pictures and multi-delete them, along those lines would be nice to be able to select and copy multiple pics from bucket, as far as I know you can only copy links to multiples on the first upload, after that you have to do it individually.

Having Sports as a subform makes more sense than the Political subform to me. Seems like those threads are less active now that they've been moved to the subform, whereas the sports threads are something people actively search out for their specific interest.

No it doesn't. The main difference in activity is from fewer people complaining about politics threads, or who are otherwise not interested in political discussions. This isn't a problem.

However it wasn't made for activity reasons. The biggest gain i see from the subforum is that it keeps out those who don't want to come and argue out, and it allows us to argue freely, with no risk of being banned, unless someone goes full retard. A sports subforum would have no such advantages, and would only be a matter of (slight) convenience for some people.

I notice that the Game Streaming subforum is rarely trafficked. Any way to implement what users are streaming on the sidebar of the front page or a redirect to active streams page? It's kinda buried in the back end of the general gaming forums and I wouldn't mind seeing BG members stream once in a while, just the current visibility makes it difficult to find out when BG FITES or something like that are being streamed.

I think a sports subforum would mean more threads getting made. Most people imo feel obligated to stick to the big threads to talk about the day to day sports news and some of the topics would be much better suited in their own thread. Also, those giant threads are kind of intimidating to open if you aren't current.

I also think that some bigger stories that end up not getting their own thread could bring discussion from people that don't even care about sports. Say X athlete gets a DUI. In the current system the discussion may be 2-3 posters saying "you hear about that idiot X?" "yeah, what an idiot". Whereas if sports had its own subforum a new thread might get made that draws in all sorts of people to once again tell us how they hate those damn drunk drivers.
