Another reason why 100%ing all 5 newbie zones before moving to the next tier of zones is a good idea.

Just kinda curious, once you hit Lv 80 (cap?) what, exactly do you do in the game, besides uhh, wvw, rvr? and crafting.

    any content updates otw?

I ask because every other online game wants your money after the initial purchase, so what's their incentive to keep adding shit besides in exp packs?

The Reddit thread about "why was I banned?" is lultastic. ANet even posts what exactly they were banned for. Love to see that the company takes having a civil community seriously.

    What he's talking about.

Had a chance to mess around with greatsword again last night. Really do think that axe/axe is going to be best aoe for warrior. Greatsword seems to slaughter it in terms of single target though.

I think you're really, really overestimating just what that monthly subscription goes towards. ANet has said they have some content updates added, but even if they don't... who cares? You play the game 1-80, do the content that's interesting to you, and stop playing until an expansion or something is released. No monthly fee means you shouldn't feel obligated to keep playing.

Constant updates, and not just to end-game; they'll be adding more dynamic events and adding new chains to each of them, and they won't always tell us when they do.

Does this game have any sort of PvE endgame, or is it PvP only?

Also. is there a discussion forum where I can read a bit so I know wtf I'm doing with my build? Right now I'm just putting random traits here and there

Orr seems to be the PvE endgame. Last zone with a really big chain of dynamic events that can branch out in a dozen different ways. I'm not sure anybody has experienced it yet.

And it's more fun to create your own builds imo.

There is no raiding system or anything like that. There ARE level 80-only dungeons and explorable modes. So yes, there is an endgame, it's just not the traditional large-scale raiding system. That system is more in place for the high level dynamic events. As for discussion forums...
https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum will be the official forums when they open, and as much as I regret to recommend it gw2guru.com has some discussion on builds and such for each class. Just make sure you have a thick skin or else you'll be incredibly annoyed by the posters there.

There are a few dungeons that you can repeat in hopes of unique gear skins, or you can try to get other ones from dynamic events I guess. Or work on completing maps and whatever else they have for titles/etc. Or start a new character, as each race has their own storyline with details that vary based on player choices. Or play something else and come back to it when there's a new campaign released.

The main standout with Guild Wars tends to be that gear stats aren't particularly elusive. Appearance may be, but you aren't stuck being a second-class performer until you've lucked out on endgame loot. What'd drive endgame stuff is less a matter of logical progression, and what (if anything) strikes your fancy.

Arenanet has quite a history of providing achievements of some kind for players who just want to keep playing, and playing, and playing...

    To give an idea.

As mentioned, with no monthly fee, the game doesn't exactly need to keep you compulsively logging in for months/years.

there were 400k concurrent players online when I logged on briefly before class. I'm curious how many ppl merely pre-purchased/ordered the game since 400k players at 7am PST is a shit load

It goes towards massive profits, of course...which makes it all the more important to try to keep people hanging around and paying the fees.

No need to get all defensive, lol.

That is 400k concurrent players. They have already said that presale was well over 1million and that those numbers did not reflect pre-order or day 1 purchasers. I have several friends of friends that just bought the game over the weekend or are planning on buying it this week. I guess my thoughts of "if they were going to get it, they'd have already bought it" belief system is totally out the window.

They have spoken directly to this. There will be content updates. However, what these content updates will entail are unknown save for the "new dynamic events" promise. They have said that they will be adding new DE's and new full DE chains after launch.

As for the "exp pack" bit, we will more like likely see the first expansion box within the year. Remember GW1 had both Factions and Nightfall (its first 2 content boxes) released within the first 24 months. If you are used to WoW's style of content patches and expansion cycles, GW2 will be different.

GS is ok, but honestly Rifle+axe/axe is the way to go imo. Mind you in WvW for me its been rifle/long bow or rifle+axe/horn. Mind you this is early on and sword/axe may be a lot better do to its bleed synergy. Its too early to tell for me at least. I have been enjoying my warrior alt though.

Elementalist main, been swapping between dagger/dagger and scepter/dagger. I see a lot of people using staff. The staff is awesome for WvW and for support, but it just doesnt have near the burst potential as D/D or S/D. Self stacking might with a Ring of Fire, Phoenix. Dragon Tooth is too good.

Yeah I love my staff in WvW and higher level content (when I haven't leveled in to the area yet).

Dagger/Dagger is fun. I haven't really messed with Scepter/Dagger all too much (cant find a good scepter to begin with)
