ongoing reddit amaa with most of the programmer team: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comme...d_wars_2_amaa/

interesting stuff and very honest, like:

Looking back, if you could change one thing about the game at release, what would you have changed?

Personally, I wish we'd been better prepared with the Trading Post, and that we'd been better prepared with content problems with things like events and skill points.
What do you consider to be the biggest defect in the game currently (from a "this feature should function like x but does not" stand point)

One of the biggest defects right now is events randomly breaking. This is happening for a variety of reasons, including NPCs failing to path to their destination, players pulling NPCs out of the event area, and content scripts failing to handle edge cases. A big part of the problem is tracking down what broke minutes or hours after the bug has occurred. One restricting factor to keep in mind is that we're dealing with a live environment now with significantly more code and content being exercised than our development environment. Some bugs only reproduce for us at live scale, which makes it very difficult to diagnose the problem and work with it in a sandbox. This requires improvements to the debugging tools we've taken for granted all along in the dev branch in order to make them work efficiently at live scale, which we're actively working on now.

Yeah I wanted to play RNG pretty bad, so I leveled him up to 80. Did a good couple of days of WvW and was so disappointed. If I build him to decent dmg he has no escapes/cures/movement boosts. If I build him any other way he just seems.... Sub par. I spec'd a full set of toughness/Vit/precision and he still felt squishy as shit, even when he was mobile as shit. I know the current standard is tough/con dmg but even that seems lack luster.
I'm leveling a warrior now but RNG is still the job for me I think. Also I look like a damn ninja. Which is pretty b.a.

Never gear this way as any class in this game. You also shouldn't be dying fast when specced purely defensive as a ranger, they have lots of survivability.

There is never a situation that makes soldier gear useful. unless the situation is "i want to be useless"

Yeah no. Soldier gear is fantastic for WvW. Survival is literally the only important stat. Ain't no stat for increasing your siege damage.

that was my thinking. I sorta have a general idea of what strategies are gonna be the most constant winning strats in WvW.

    1. Money, just like in the RL money buys wins. people carrying around ballista/treb/catapult blueprints, and having people to build them when they go down is probably the most important aspect. ballista's do so much damage and a singe one can turn a 10v10 skirmish into a 10v5 in like two shots.
    2. mobility, being able to move around the battle field and not take all day is key to implementing strategies in an effective manner. it doesn't matter if , say for example, a 30 man zerg get's repelled back from quinton (eternal battlegrounds) and full wipes if they can be back at goltana/kovan in 15-20 seconds. Might not do as much damage as possible but it won't matter. the trade off in mobility for damage is well worth it.
    3. mass, (since it seems to be "m" letter'd words) numbers means a fuck load, and not just in DPS output, but in the ammount of supplies your zerg is carrying around. more supplies = more siege equipment= more DPS = them dead more than you.

So i guess that's my new strategy lol. "the three M's"
I should proabably give in and buy commander :/

Yeah, I think you get the general idea. Siege and supply really do make or break a strat from working. I've defended keeps from massive 40+ zergs with nothing but 10 people simply because the place was littered with siege everywhere before the fighting even began. There's a massive difference between 10 people in wvw and 10 people in wvw manning siege.

I never go into WVW to siege, I go into it to PVP. 2vs4, 3vs6, 2vs7, etc. Wearing soldier gear would gimp me and I wouldn't be able to kill anyone in WVW at all. It's bad gear for real combat, and sieging is boring for me, I only do it if we have a 100% chance of taking and for the free karma/gold/exp.

I am never on siege and never use it, I'll create it and place it, but I won't use it.

    from massive 40+ zergs
Fights like this are extremely boring to me and I completely avoid them. I find no fun in fighting invisible enemies or gigantic zergs. They're ok on ele cause I have tornado and can push entire zergs back solo almost, but on THF they are aids.

Me neither (Though I'm also not a fan of the FPS slideshow due to my 3 year old PC), but it's not like you can really control how the enemy chooses to move. You're basically trying to shoehorn tPvP/arenas into WvW, and while you may get that occasional skirmish, it's unlikely to be contributing much to the overall objective of WvW: Conquer shit.

Either way, this isn't the first time you've jumped in and been an ass about people mentioning soldier equivalent gear. I ignored it the first time you aimed it at me when I mentioned farming AC tokens because, bluntly, you seem to get off on being an abrasive tard. Only with someone else mentioning their justification for it that you finally add the addendum that you wouldn't kill as fast, thus boning your preferred play style. Well, no shit. Your way isn't the only way. You like skirmishes. Rhyis like sieges. I hate WvW and its forced requirements in exploration and monthlies and would like more rewarding open-world PvE experiences. Do what you want, just don't be an ass in the process.

Don't you arrow key turn and click your skills?

If rhyis likes to do sieges, that's fine with me. However, at that point(100vs100+ fights) you might as well be naked and not wearing gear because it won't make much of a difference at all anyways, ESPECIALLY if you're on siege.

Soldier gear is always worse than any other gear combination because the stat combination on it is bad and you can get better defensive options doing valk/knights or better offensive options do knights/zerkers or knights/knights etc. Even for a balanced build, a valk/knight combo is much better, the gear is just garbage.

edit: Even for say, a guardian wanting more VIT, going magi gear is better(healing/precision/VIT) as well.

I disagree, especially if you're given the option adjust how fast the camera can rotate. About face/back view buttons don't hurt, eithe
You sure? You said this about arrow key turning, and said that you hit 6-0 to hit your keys which are horrible and no one should ever do that.

Also, I'm not posting that I'm better than people, I don't think I'm better, I'm trying to HELP PEOPLE by telling them SOLDIERS IS BAD and they should NEVER EVER USE IT. I'm giving advice.

Talking about a dislike about the current control scheme != I don't use it. And the reason I don't play keyboard only was made pretty clear: You can't customize control options well enough to pull it off.

I've been around the MMO block long enough to know you even bringing it up was not an attempt at a compliment. So, yeah, you're being an ass.

    lol

I'll only comment on the statement about "being on siege won't make a difference in a 100v100 skirmish", cause everything else is subjective, however having competent folks on siege, deploying and building and implementing siege weaponry is what makes those battles strategic. I'm all about some 5v5 or 10v10 or 3v3, but there is something appealing about the chaos of war, (having been in fire fights in real life, it's quite similar to the disorganized chaos that is a 40v40 zerg collision).

when you can follow the 3 M's is when you consistently will win, which i think is pretty pimp.

anyway... so trying to spam up my warrior, anyone wanna run like.....30-2709 AC exp runs? lol
