WvW is going to change a lot once people get to higher levels and get more money from events. There's a lack of people buying siege still, just because of the costs. But in BWE3 we saw multiple Treb assaults and mid-field arrow carts and ballista, and lots of upgrades purchased for keeps and stonemist. People will probably be more serious about the upgrades once the longer matches start though.

You can't access any elite skills until 30. Check ur skill tab and its probably there, just not usable

So instead of going into story mode and getting a unique helm, you get the same hat that you got from Catacombs that you got from Caduceus' Manor, etc. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but it kinda upsets me that I'll get the same helm from Orr's story mode that I get from Catacombs story mode.
I'm really hoping its a bug, but i did notice this earlier.

Explorable mode is also alot of fun, alot more generally challenging.

Did you do explorable mode? If so, how many tears did you get and did you get anything for clearing a path?

I fucking love Dagger/Pistol and Shortbow for my Thief. Dagger/Pistol has like the perfect balance of damage and fuck you in the skills, combined with some good utility skills I foresee myself rocking the shit out of pvp when I eventually do it.

staff, sword/focus or /pistol, usually focus for the movespeed field. great sword is hit or miss, seems like either im doing ok damage or i'm doing 1-2 dmg, seems pretty awful.

I do GS for groups of mobs or when stuff is dieing really fast.

I use Staff for veteran mobs or just more difficult ones in general. Staff w/ 2 clones and an illusion is pretty retarded w/ condition stacking (just when stuff dies super fast there is no point since you don't get the buildup time). However, getting like 2 staff clones up and then switching to GS for an illusion and pewpew is pretty nice also

I run sword/pistol and greatsword; I can solo most veterans and 2-3 mobs. I'd like to be a bit better at the AoE zerg events, but I do alright there.

How are you guys leveling so fast? It took me forever to just now get 15. Are you going to higher level areas and doing stuff or something?

You wouldn't get more exp for going to a higher level area. Do events and your story.

You can get a bunch of exp just by doing the starter towns + Jeuno. I personally haven't touched a 25-35 zone yet and I'm level 34. Mostly just done the newbie zones.

    I'd say absolutely.

On the downside, I remember your mathiness from the ffxi days... idk if you'll find that here necessarily. The elite armor always has a statistical cap to it. You can get max armor with the same stats on it from crafting, "endgame", and vendors. The difference is the appearance, but you're not going to get that elusive +1 from anything. The arguments in the game most often come down to builds... i.e., which skill set to bring into an event for a given job. You're limited by the number you can have active at a given time, so it's the most important single decision you can make in preparation for an activity.

    The positives.

I could go on for a while here, but to sum up in general... it's fun as fuck. The crafting is done better than any game I've personally ever played, and it gives exp to boot. Inventory management is done better than any game I've ever played. The pace of the combat varies, but it's pretty much as quick as you want. You can pull solo mobs, or go balls out with a shitton of people on an area or mob. The graphics are great, scenery is great, and music is fantastic as well, with the option to store mp3's in a file to be played during different periods of time. The storyline is pretty good, and depending how deep you want to go, there's a ton of lore to uncover regarding the various races.

I haven't touched PvP or WvW yet, but that's where most people spend the most of their time and it's getting good reviews. Long story short, definitely worth the money. Only three days in, but I'm already severely sleep deprived because I don't want to stop playing and exploring.

For those that do want to play the numbers game there's tons to figure out when it comes to not only what skills you're going to use but also what combination of stats to equip your gear with. I feel like I really need to step back and re-evaluate my choices thus far cause my stats are all over the place. I feel like maybe if I focus on one or two I might see better results.
