Need help pricing a laptop

In 2010 my mom bought a Samsung R480, used it 3 times and now wants to sell it. I'm not comfortable pricing an older laptop because I'm not sure how much the depreciation is even after a few months, but I need to know a value so I can put it up on craigslist or if it's bottomed out give her the cash.

If we're talking $ I'd say $200 (and this is generous). Overall even a netbook is more powerful than this, but this thing is 14inches ... a nice size.

No indication of the CPU though on that page however, the most important part

for an i3, which is a beefed up core2duo, Id say 200-250, maybe 300 is pretty fair

Ah an i3. This puts it on par with the £400~ laptops in the UK.

So in that case, $250 bottom and $300 top since the US is a great deal cheaper than the UK when it comes to this stuff.

EDIT2: Oh, a 14inch laptop with an i3 (pretty beefy for basic use) is rare/none existant in the UK too, without paying more than £600+ (which puts it in i5/i7 territory)

Why would anyone even pay that? Surely you could buy something from elsewhere, for 50%+ less, even after shipping across the world, and taxes.

You mean for the 14inches? Personally I don't care for an 14inch but you do get some anal people here who can't stand between a 13 and a 15 and must have 14, not like there's any much difference though in my opinion. neglible.

As for buying, personally I would prefer to buy somewhere "close" to me so I can always throw it back at them. I have a string of bad luck when it comes to buying electricals. Something always goes wrong lol.

That will serve as a good "work" or "study" machine and also as a media centre. Also be decent to play old roms and such too.

Ya I helped her pick it out in 2010, had some of the best stats at the time. I was pretty stoked when I found it had the bd-rom drive in it the other day.
