I have to admit, I just looked at K-State recruiting for the last 3-4 years and if you assumed average coaching of those classes, they likely would be something like 2-5 right now. There were very few 4-stars (no 5-stars), and it seemed like some years there were as many or more 2-stars as 3 stars.

Honestly, it is enough to piss off a fan of most other teams that have had better recruiting, but far worse play.

I can understand homerism to some extent, and I can understand pointing at people like Bryant, and Switzer that were absurdly dominant, or guys like Fry that left legacies dominating the entire game, but there's nobody that's ever done remotely close to so much with anywhere near so little as Bill Snyder.

If he coached at a big name school he'd be at like a Celtics level of dominance.

C'mon man, the Badgers NEVER have a top-25 recruiting class and are (this season excepting) always a top-25 team, sometimes the class of the big 10.

So I'd say Alvarez and Bielema do something near to as close to what Bill Snyder has done over the past decade+.

recruiting rankings can be misleading anyways. Sure, it means the Alabama's and USC's are getting the guys with better 40 times and bench press numbers, but it obviously doesn't directly translate to on-field success.

There is also the fact that scouting websites change their rankings solely based on who offers the players, it isn't just objective analysis. a 2 star that gets offered by USC probably isn't remaining a 2 star.

k-state had 4 winning seasons in 44 years before snyder

we won 1 game his first season... was the first win in 3 years

we were in 1 bowl game before snyder... ever... 13 under him, 1 under prince since

we've had 11 win seasons under him 6 times

he's won 9+ 11 times, including a stretch of doing it 10 out of 11 years... with a stretch of 11 wins 6 out of 7 years...

in the 3 years he was retired, we were 17-20

We're 17-3 with 2/3 losses to top 5 teams, the other a top 10, in the last 2 years. And of course all 3 of those losses were last year.
