Here's how I see it: Texas and, to a lesser extent, Oklahoma are the guys who work during the day, go out at night, come home drunk and beat their wives before banging them, if they didn't already bang a hooker or someone else on the side that night. The rest of the Big 12 are the battered wives who are forced to be happy taking care of the six kids because they have no other choice financially; they're just happy to have a roof over their heads and food on the table for the family. If they had a way out like their friends Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas A&M, they would have taken it.

That's why the Big 12 still exists.

Or it could be related to the fact that currently half the teams are in the top 25 in football, with 4 of the 6 10 win teams from last year not even in the top 15 yet and one not even in the top 25.

Every team other than Iowa State has had a 10 win season in the last 5 years.

Top to bottom the Big 12 is the best conference by so far it's not even funny at this point.

I'm confused... this sounds like the Big 12 is trying to protect itself from more teams leaving. Given Texas has the Longhorn Network, so they're guaranteed all that money, how is this new deal on them? If anything, it sounds like it'd be by the other schools trying to ensure the conference stays afloat and they're not left with no backups.

Being in a different conference would mean the longhorn network ends.

It's such a shitty deal that they made it a rematch, this year's LSU team is easily the most accomplished team in college since I've been alive, and they still got screwed out of a legit chance to claim they beat the absolute best from everywhere.

They should be fighting for a chance to say "We beat the SEC. We beat the Big East. We beat the Pac 10. We beat the Big 10. We beat the Big 12. We did most of it on the road, btw."

Instead they get a shitty rematch nobody outside Alabama really wants and a bigass asterisk whether they win or lose.

Why..? If Texas left for another conference, they'd just have to negotiate about some of the revenues. Only two Texas games are actually shown on Longhorn Network, and they're the two worst games, so it's not like they're losing any national attention. And gaining Texas opens up a ton of Texas markets for whatever conference would take them in.
