    Tablets - Nexus 7

Didn't know where to put this question, but does any one have an opinion on the nexus 7?

For a $200 tablet, you're getting quite a lot. I plan on using it for ebooks and multimedia. Any one have any cons I should consider before pulling the trigger on this (other then the lack of sd slot which I can live with). Or, how bout other tablets to consider? The specs seem to blow almost anything except the new ipad out of the water, but for an incredible price.

If I'm not mistaken, some of the earlier batches of Nexus 7 tablets were accompanied with bleeding screens, akin to the first version of Asus Transformers. In fact, shortly after the first batch were sold to retailers, there was a bit of a delay till the second batch. Our chain of stores here in Ontario, Canada had a good 3 weeks between our shipments. However, now, it seems like that problem was fixed or just greatly reduced in numbers. Also, I have a Nexus 7, part of the first shipment and I haven't had a single problem.

It seems like Google and Asus created this tablet to fight for market share against some of the popular ebook readers like Amazon Kindle and such. However, with that price-point, it's a great tablet. Only downside; no microSD slot at all. Either re-use that 16GB memory or tether a phone for constant use of your cloud services.

Edit: Small pet peeve; the earphone jack requires a bit more force than usual when plugging in. Just be mindful of not damaging it.

If I get a unit with the problem, can I have it replaced by asus (or the store at least)?

You should be able to as it was a common problem with the earlier versions. Although now, they seem to have rectified it.

If the screen size is fine for you, it's quite nice. I thought mine had a defective headphone jack at first, but yeah, it just takes a decent bit of force to get the plug to actually click into place.

Just got my Nexus 7 yesterday. Love it so far. Running AOKP on it and it's just amazing. Agreed on the headphone jack needing some force.

I absolutely love mine. I've had multiple tablets, including transformer, and transformer prime, but i sold my prime after having my nexus 7 for about a week. If you're having issues with storage, you can download an app called stickmount, and purchase one of these http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Micro...ref=pd_cp_pc_1 and just plug it into the bottom. You can then plug any device with a USB on it. I'm currently using AOKP as well, and have had no issues. Also, in terms of tablets, i'd say this has the best range of wifi i've seen so far.

Bought one for my father's b'day a couple of weeks ago. He loves it. The only thing it lacks in my opinion is hdmi out (either via MicroUSB with MHL or microHDMI) and a slot for additional storage.

I'm still waiting for a 10" Nexus. I have a kindle fire and enjoy the idea of it's smaller size and portability, but whenever I try to use it I instantly wish it was bigger (That's what she said). I thought I heard rumors of the 10" Nexus, but does anyone know for sure if there is one coming?

Tablet talk. Send/receive texts from your tablet through your phone via WiFi or Bluetooth. Also tells you when your phone is ringing.

Mainly waiting for a possible sale on the 16gb model since I wouldn't be able to live with 8gb without expandable storage. Looks like one of the definitive Android tablets otherwise though.

Only thing that would annoy me is the lack of games that interest me on it due to the hardware diversity and ease of piracy, making it more difficult/unappealing to deploy apps on it vs. iOS.

I got one last week with the screen lift issue reported by a lot of people. Luckily since I ordered it thought the Google Play store, they send a replacement before I'm required to send my old one back.

i've had 2, the first one had the screen lift side on the left bezel, returned it to futureshop for full refund and then ordered a new one from play with no issues.

love the tab, does everything i need it to do.
