I liked Zack but hated like 90% of the story in CC. Story was so shit, only the last 10 minutes or so was any good.

I feel like the minority on most boards I visit. When I first played 13 I had a pretty good time. It of course went a little bit slow with the battle system and lolhallwaysimulator.jpg, but I still played straight through it in about a week. I was a little disappointed like most people, but when 13-2 came out I thought it pretty much fixed what was wrong with the first game, but didn't have the characters I liked from 13. Whenever I try to get people to try the series out I always mention to them to think of 13 and 13-2 as one game. That said I can't wait for 13-3, Caius is pretty badass.
oh is caius returning in XIII-3?
I'm hoping so, maybe he can give a decent explanation of that secret ending scene (loldoubtit).
Whelp, finished my XIII-2 platinum today to go alongside my regrettable XIII-1 platinum. My body is now ready for XIII-3 and its inconsistent framerate.
More Caius would be welcome.

XIII-1's platinum grind was soul crushingly boring. I only bothered farming turtles when I had 2+ hours of podcast listening material lined up to keep my brain awake for its duration.
XIII-2 was a breeze in comparison, aside from the asshole who decided having 100% bestiary would be a fun thing to make players do for a single fragment.
XIII-3 I'm expecting a lot of missable shit requiring multiple playthroughs given the limited time theme, and the jist from what I've read makes me feel there's not going to be a rewind function either.
Hate to jack the thread a bit, but was any of the XIII-2 story DLC worth a bother, or is it just fluff as far as the grand scheme of the plot goes that may apply to XIII-3?
i totally cheated for XIII-1's platinum. created a separate save and sold/upgraded everything for the item achievement. its such a pointless one.
I think most of us used that method. I wouldn't call it "cheating" either since the achievement is given for having owned every single item in the game, not for having all of them at the same time.
FFXIII had more consistent difficulty, while FFXIII-2 returned to the old "game is piss easy from start to finish, except for superbosses who are going to kick your ass until you figure out the easy/cheap way to beat them" formula used by virtually every other FF.
XIII had challenge?
Hmm, I've only played through maybe 1/2 the game so far but my entire run has been a NSU run without a guide (yes, I have died a couple of times but as I stated... haven't even touched the level up system the game provides)
It was challenging in the sense that standard FF tactics (spam your strongest attack, heal when necessary) don't work in that game, you can't oneshot random mobs and at no point you gain access to an "instant-win" skill like the overpowered summons and limit breaks from the previous games.
It might not be the hardest RPG around, but compared to most FFs? Definitely so.
Yeah I cheated for XIII's platinum too lol. I didn't need anything anyway as I had beaten every single boss and enemy in the game.
You don't even need to create a separate save, simply don't save at all after selling / upgrading everything.
And regarding framerate/graphics, Kitase said that the version showed in the trailers and the recent demo are all part of the very first build of the game so the framerate isn't optimal and there are placeholder textures here and there. Apparently it's a few months old and they already have a more recent one (which will likely be shown at E3).
I did not know this. Sometime in the future you saved me from wasting 40 hours gil farming for platinum trophy. Seriously fuck gil farming in XIII, it was so ass backwards. I appreciate the weapons/item upgrade idea which kicks ass in theory but they ruined it by making it far too grindy rather than fun and allowing you to experiment.
I have lightning, hope, and fang's legendaries and have stopped going for the plat on multiple occasions. With that trick could I literally finish all other trophies and leave treasure hunter for last by selling everything? I know there's some items that can only be obtained through missions as well.
Yeah you can do that. You don't even need to save. I did it just in case I didn't have enough gil to buy/upgrade everything after selling everything else. That way I'd probably just farm off the difference if it were small (and I wouldn't have to do all the upgrading shit again)
I didn't do it last cos I was multiplying trapezohedrons iirc.
For Treasure Hunter you simply need to have had all the items in your inventory at least once so selling everything (including upgraded weapons) will obviously help a lot. Just make sure you go to Oerba after all the upgrading because the trophy won't unlock until you do.
http://gematsu.com/2013/01/lightning...hiyuki-itahanaThe design for recently revealed Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII character Lumina was created not by Lightning illustrator Tetsuya Nomura, but by Toshiyuki Itahana, who previously designed download costumes for Final Fantasy XIII-2, this week’s Famitsu reveals.
The weekly magazine has new tidbits of information following last week’s online previews. The fight scene with Noel depicted in the extended trailer has to do with a process involving the release of Noel’s soul—but somehow ends up becoming a battle.
Other bits:
- The Active Time Battle (ATB) system is the busiest it’s ever been.
- Players can perform style changes in an instant.
- When you press a button, the command is immediately invoked.
- You use the ATB in the field more and dash less.
- There is an action to slide down sand dunes, too.
- In the demonstration shown to Famitsu, Lightning was shown wearing a Violet Dress, Rapier Sword, and Rose Patterned Shield.
And some bits from a Tetsuya Nomura interview (presumably on Lightning’s new outfit):
- The order was for “a body suit of leather.”
- The image for both arms was of a spinal cord.
- The shield and sunglasses may have been designed by someone else.
