Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 gets official ‘Dead Dunes’ screens
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 has received a new batch of official screens from Square-Enix, showing off a new area called Dead Dunes.

Weirdly, I just reported on a Shonen Jump scan of these images before Square sent them to us.

Lightning goes to the Dead Dunes to recover a stolen treasure, and along the way she visits an oasis, a shanty village and surfs down dunes. There’s also a new ability called Lightspeed that slows time, giving Lightning a chance to land extra hits on enemies.

its probably still too early to be hyped.
i think they're showing too much to be honest. considering its a sequel most people are already aware of the background and as such don't hold as strong an interest in finding out more. with so much info of it floating around so early it loses that demand.. where people cling on to any morsel of information they can get.

i think generally people think LR:13 is out to milk the franchise and Lightning's popularity at this point.. and would rather see new IP or something else being expanded upon.. VS13 on the other hand has been playing hard to get for as long as people can remember

it doesn't help that FF13s story/mythos is convoluted and TV drama shitty.

thats how it is for me too.. as long as its a main lineage FF, its a day 1 purchase.

i have about zero hype about this game now because I'm looking forward to FFXI, XIV ARR and whatever will become of Versus XIII.
could honestly say I'm even more hyped about X HD than this right now.. but i know the hype will probably build closer to release date.

that said i thoroughly enjoyed XIII-2. if i had to rank it among other main lineage FFs i'd say its pretty high up. way above XIII itself

I'm actually replaying XIII at the moment since my friend is playing through it for the first time and we're talking about the game. It's amazing how much the scenes with Snow or SeriousSazh grind things to a screeching halt. Story is still way better than XIII-2 though.

XIII-2 was most enjoyable single player FF for me since X. If this one is as good, I'd be very happy

Would also like to chime in and mention no hype for me, collectors edition pre-order if available, and will platinum it.
Square-Enix might as well have direct access to my bank account.

More hyped for this than I was for XIII-2. Probably because XIII-2 ended up being more enjoyable than the original game so it gives me more hope.

srsly. thong, half a camo print bustier, aviator goggles, a double belt and chaps?

Pretty much the same as many others when it comes to no hype.

I'm hoping this turns out to be like XIII-2, in the sense that I didn't know shit about it because the thought of it just didn't interest me, but still bought it day one and ended up enjoying the fuck out of it.

Edit: Thinking back, I really liked the music for XIII-2. I think it's part of the reason I enjoyed it so much. I hope they use whoever it was that they used for Lightning Returns.

This, her original outfit in XIII was clearly the best one.

I can't believe how many people here liked XIII-2. The Paradigm Pack was a lot of fun, but the story was meh and Caius is God-awful.

Story was meh. But the gameplay was awesome. And I enjoyed the way more open ended feel compared to FF13.
