I just finished Snow's main story quest and i'm out in the wildlands. The chocobro thing hits me in the feels.
This. I put markers on where big enemies spawn in case I need to farm more EP in the zone. I think EP management is really the biggest thing you need to worry about. Other than that its finding the right moments to let time pass. I feel like i'm doing pretty good though. I'm on Day 4 of Day 6 (I've been on Day 6 for 4 cycles) and i've been able to explore, gather and complete quests without hassle.
Square-Enix made this game a bitch though, hardly any hints on where quest items are located. Abysmal quest tracking, it doesn't tell you when the NPC is available and where.
So my lightning feels exceptionally weak. I don't know how spoilery this thread can be so I'll just say both the guy behind the ice door and the guy in the warrens who is watching a video of the future have both whipped my ass soundly. Like its not even close. I youtubed a couple of fights and the people are doing like 9k damage attacks to stagger these guys then switching into the cloud uniform and overclockingx3 doing 35k damage per attack. Well my little machihuetal does like 400 out of stagger and 3k inside it. I don't have the cloud uniform either so thats out. And I really haven't found a good way to get stronger. I've tried synthesis shops but they have just taken my blizzards from like a .5 modifier to a .55. Nothing that would make me significantly more powerful.
Some of the trash fights take like 7 minutes. I have to use potions on the trash mobs on the way to the ice door guy. I just hit day four (got the white mage clothes that dont even let you cast cure but thats a different complaint I guess) and haven't completed any of the main story quests because I just can't beat either of the last guys because I'm so so weak. What is the secret to powering up? Because it doesn't feel like I have enough time to grind out a bunch of fire spells and synth them at the shop.
Sounds like you have a whole case of doing it wrong. I would grind EP and try to do some side quests to get more stats. I'd also check your builds, go to outfitters and buy new garbs/weapons and see if they improve. You really want to set it up like the old XIII games, you want one schemata for physical, one for debuff, and one for magic onry. For staggering purposes I'd make sure each schemata has at least 1 spell to sling. You will need to change the schemata up too depending on the area, some enemies might be strong to ice/thunder, and you'll need to adjust your strategy to fit that.
I know early one spamming deshell, and a -ra or level 2 spell was doing me wonders. The Yuna garb is so fucking rediculously overpowered early on its not even funny, Elemata spam rapes literally everything. Especially trash.
The only other tip I can think of is to press R2 and check the staggering conditions, its usually sling spells during certain actions or block powerful moves. Almost everything except large enemies should be downed within 4-5 seconds.
Edit: I overlooked it pretty early on, but I actually forgot to equip accessories, that was a good 15% str/mag I was missing out on.
Edit2: USGamer did an Op-Ed piece on the Final Fantasy XIII sub-series as a whole, he had a pretty interesting take on everyone's negativity towards the series: http://www.usgamer.net/articles/its-...ually-that-bad
Just started playing and wondering if its the tv im playing on (not my tv, in the process of moving so playing on a hotel 40" LG lcd) but do the graphics look really downgraded to anyone else? I mean battles/cutscenes/CG all look great but when just walking around all of the textures and npc's look horrible and unpolished.
It's because it's not a main series number. Lowered graphics was the first thing I noticed too.
This whole thing sounds like a Disney direct-to-DVD sequel in terms of quality.![]()
^ I suppose that's all that matters, really. Boring main character, weak storytelling, 500 years without relevant plot-updates for any of the secondary party members, ect. None of that matters if the game itself is fun. I've played plenty of games that reviews slammed and have had blasts with them, so its good that some people are enjoying it.
Uhhh wish Slayer wasn't attached to the Cloud costume. It's so OP, makes it hard for me to switch to any other costume as my physical dps monster.
Cloud garb is beast, combat and customization is great, not a huge fan of the MM time constraints atm always feel like I need to rush or i'm
missing something.
Well I'm on day 4 and I've already finished 2 of the 4 main quests. My strat has been to do as many quests as I find along the way and then once I finish all the main quests I'm gonna look up what I'm missing, check the times they're available and plan out my run based on that. Time constraint isn't as limiting as I originally thought, Especially with some liberal use of Chronostasis.
