Fall 2012 Anime Season Thread.

Fall so far:
Shin Sekai Yori is the show to watch.
Sword Art is continuing, but those of us that have glanced at the LN know that's it's downhill from here (though all the episodes so far are fine).
There's also the second season of Jormungand, if you liked Black Lagoon, fucking watch Jormungand.

Also decent is Psycho-Pass and Robotics;Notes (both noitaminA) and Zetsuen no Tempest.
K is not quite as good, but it's fucking beautiful. Magi is also beautiful, you might like it, or might not (Aladdin grates on me).
Girls und Panzer is ok, better than Upotte.

I can't speak on Chuunibyou since I can't watch it.
Btooom! is... predictable (violence! violence against women! GRITTYNESS!) but if deathmatch genre stuff is your thing.
Ixion Saga DT is average and stupid with a bit of smartness about it, you can start watching it and might not be able to stop. (tama)
If you like Fruits Basket you might like Kamisama Hajimemashita, but it's not quite as good.
On the oppai front, To Love-Ru Darkness and I think Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo are your options this season.
There's also JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but I think it's turned out to be a bomb?
(Also on returning shows is Medaka Box, Initial D, Bakuman, and some kind of alt/reboot for Setokai no Ichizon, and Hayate no Gotoku)

To BBC it up and give a counterpoint: I disagree with pretty much everything you say.

Robotic Notes / Tonari are the shows of the season. Honestly, anyone who isn't down with RN must have a personality that is purely orthogonal to mine. I can't honestly imagine holding a conversation with someone who didn't like robotic notes that wouldn't end in violence. Tonari I can understand people not liking. They're wrong of course, but I can understand it.

Shin started off amazing and has since moved down to "really good but move the fuck on with the plot".

Psycho-Pass started off interesting and then zero fucks were given.

K is Hepatitis A through E. Honestly, the thought of watching this show makes me suicidal.

Magi is amazing and a half and only below Tonari and RN because I miss Ali Baba.

Jorm is 50/50. Some episodes are awesome. The past two had me caring less about the plot than I do about Ethiopian children.

Sword Art Online is still awful and I want the 7 hours of my life I spent catching up to E15 back.

ZnoT got dropped the second bitches stopped getting kicked in the face.

Chuu is cute and fun and terrible and awesome. Yeah, you read that right.

Everything else I don't watch because I don't care or am waiting on end of season catch-up for any surprise penguindrums.

I like Robotic Notes so far, but I have no idea where the show is going. First episode they're in a giant robot, and then they need funding to keep the club together, and then they need to win the tournament to get the funding and keep the club, and then this new chick moves in who is the creator of that game the main doode is always playing, but she's weird and eccentric and then she disappears but the main doode then sees a weird ghost on his handheld which introduces another new chick not into robos but into the main doode, but then the main doode manages to make contact with that weird ghost handheld girl that is actually just a weird program.

All this happening with another story in the background about an incident that happened years ago where everyone fainted on a boat, but only the main guy and girl are having weird side affects, and the older sister, who the main guy likes, I think, is grown distant and doing some weird secret government stuff.

tldr; It has a shitton of loose ends at the moment and the story feels like it's getting broader and broader every episode. But I really enjoy the characters and the show has the potential to tie everything together at some point, so I like it thus far.

Edit: Tonari is awesome though. A bit back and forth with the "I love you, but you don't love me back" with the 2 main characters, but the comedy and characters are very fun to watch.

Chuu is okay. I'm just enjoying it for what it is I guess. SAO I've gotten into the habit of just skimming through the episodes, I don't really watch anymore. Bakuman is back, I have no idea why no one is watching, yes the manga is over and we all know how it ends, but the show is still great to watch.

Also, SPACE BROS?!?!?! Why didn't anyone bring this up? Amaaaaazing show, easily the one show I look forward to watching the most every week. Magi is good too, but I spoiled the story for myself, I went on a binge and read up to the latest chapter. But I only did it because I really enjoy it. I was following Tempest for a while, but I just lost track of it I guess. And yeah, those are the shows I'm watching that are new and seasonal.

The Gintama episodes are fantastic. The new arc they did at the start was really great, and the old episodes they're re-airing are really hilarious older episodes. The rumor I heard was that they'd alternate back and forth between new and old episodes. They haven't started yet, but the new arc was like 4 episodes long, so they probably have to do 4 old episodes in a row to compensate. Also, is anyone watching the Rock Lee NarutoSD show? It's kinda entertaining, but like, mid-week, there's nothing else on, sorta entertaining.

And lastly, for One Piece fans, it looks like the Nami special is finally finished being subbed.

Steins;gate did the exact same thing and bought everything together full circle before the end. It was also the first time i've ever seen an anime where the first episode was also the last episode.

Pretty much, Robotics;Notes is starting to get more interesting, but the first 5 episodes nothing really happens.

Yeah, once you hit episode 10 and start to see what is really going on it's mind=blown territory.

It took me about 14 episodes to get into it. It also didn't really change my opinion of almost the entire cast even after the 'twist.'

You're right, Steins;gate did do that, and it turned out to be awesome! Good point, lol

Apparently I was kinda spot on looking at some of the talk about the visual novel. It does pick up just like Steins;Gate did, but overall people enjoyed Steins;Gate a lot more. Overall Robotic;Notes is a lot more "bright" and "positive" so apparently that makes it less better than Steins;Gate. Either way I like the girl in the anime a lot as a character so i'll probably enjoy it as long as she gets a decent amount of screen time.

Another thing I want to mention is apparently it's in the same Divergence Number as the Steins;Gate Universe except it takes place like 9 years later. That's why you see some of the minor characters make appearances in the plot at least in the visual novel. This doesn't mean too much though since it was done mostly as a marketing ploy from my understanding.

tl;dr: Steins;Gate was better, but Robotics;Notes is still pretty good.

But I do agree, the main female protagonist is my favourite character in the show. Main male character is a lazy douche though, his "I won't do anything unless you beat me in a videogame" attitude is tiresome
