Problem with ps3 controller.

I recently got a ps3 controller to use for xi and/or emulators and there seems to be a problem or two with it. I got the drivers from the following link.

The main problem is with the Dpad. Before I enable the two sticks everything works fine as far as I can tell. Then I enable them and the Dpad has it's own ideas about what it wants to do.
Left is down
Up is up
Right is left
Down is right

The first time I simply opened up the options menu and set the camera, movement, and menu directions on the directional control devices section of the to simply set the directions in the proper order. This worked exactly once and now the calibration refuses to acknowledge the existence of the right Dpad button. it also for some reason seems to assume the dpad buttons aren't even the correct buttons on occasion.
Changing the motionjoy settings to ps2 removes the Dpad problem but then the FFXI config doesnt recognize the Dpad which puts me back on square one.
I'm pretty much lost as to what went wrong. Sorry for not being able to give better details.

Current version of windows is windows 7 Home premium.

Go to options in motionjoy, double check that everything is mapped correctly, and hit save settings (even if you didn't change anything). I have to do this every single time i restart motionjoy, or various things don't work correctly.

Agreed, using PS3 controller on PC is terrible. F710 or use an XB360 controller.

I don't have any problems using my ps3 controller that aren't just minor inconveniences. And personally i don't care much for the x360 controller, and that f710 looks even worse than that.

I had the backward control problems in Arkham City and it drove me up a wall. I had originally with the F310 and then the F510 but both of those controllers went kaput very quickly due to the cables becoming exposed. What finally fixed it was getting Motionjoy and my PS3 controller and setting my PS3 controller to be recognized as an Xbox 360 controller (since that's what Arkham City defaulted to since it was a GFWL). When I've come across this issue in other games that aren't specifically built for the 360 controller nor are they GFWL, setting it as a 360 controller has always solved the problem. Most of the times using the default PS3 controller setting in Motionjoy works fine though.

I've owned the F310/510/710 and wasn't a fan. The 310 and 510's cords were very easily damaged and the problem showed up consistently between controllers I purchased for myself, my wife and ones my friend purchased as well; I'd say between the three of us we've probably owned seven that the issue has cropped up in every time. The 710 is definitely superior, but it went through batteries like nobodies business and flat out stopped working after a year and a half; it's also fairly heavy for a controller. I had a second one that worked longer, but the problem I encountered again was I was spending a fortune on batteries.

I had a ps3 and believe me this controller is better. ps3 controllers are garbage.

And buy rechargeable batteries. I also noticed the range on the bluetooth seems short make sure your dongle is close use the usb extension core that came with it if need be.
