NBC has posted the full first episode of the Jon Favreau-directed pilot for their new series Revolution. The series was produced and developed by J.J. Abrmas and his Bad Robot productions, and it looks great! This is a series I'm excited to get into. I thought this first episode was a great start, and I'm looking forward to seeing more.

The series is set to preimeire on Monday, September 17th at 10/9 central. Heres the synopsis:

Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman’s life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously – and unbeknownst to her – had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.

I saw about a billion previews for this during the Olympics and the basic premise just drives me crazy. I can't file the idea that all power just gets shut off and can't be turned back on under Acceptable Breaks from Reality. I usually enjoy J.J. Abrams stuff, but I'm gonna have to pass on this.

Hubby and I watched the pilot last night. Was having a hard time rolling with this one. We have this thing we say when we watch TV, "turn off brain". But, this show was really pushing it. At least there was a cool sword fight. Will give it a few episodes to see if gets better.

This is not the first time this sort of concept has been done.

Although in that, it did take place at the end of the film. Maybe it's the same process.

I agree, the premise bothers me but will give it few episodes. I have a feeling that it will turn out to be a turd like Teranova did though. Usually with those shows it bothers me how slow the progress of main story is.

It seems like it's Season 3 of lost. Just batshit crazy, but no great 1st season to make you keep watching. They have to answer the how/why question fast or this show will be run out of town.

Seems like a great start, but I thought of the same thing for Flashforward and The Event.

Need to see what happens I suppose. Also fucking GUS

Guns are there, but seem to be either in short supply or are controlled by certain factions.

Would also assume present day gun/ammo manufacturing relies heavily on electricity, so while some people could whip up their own ammo with the right knowledge, distribution would also be tough. Heck, I can't even think where I'd go to mine stuff like iron or copper, not that I'd really want to, if something like this actually happened.

if you watched Doomsday hoarders they show how easily people can make ammo as long as they have gun powder.

I like how it's desperately attempting to be along the lines of Jericho, complete with Roberta Hawkins playing with the secret computer at the end. The main chick is kind of cute but there's just too much wrong with this show in order for it to succeed. It's worse than Falling Skies. If they wanted to make a post apocalyptic future type show they should have just brought back Jericho. Not like Skeet Ulrich is doing anything these days.
