U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf ruled Tuesday in the case of Michelle Kosilek, who was born as a man but has received hormone treatments and lives as a woman in an all-male prison. Robert Kosilek was convicted of murder in the killing of his wife in 1990. ...

Michelle Kosilek first sued the Department of Correction 12 years ago. Two years later, Wolf ruled that Kosilek was entitled to treatment for gender-identity disorder, but stopped short of ordering surgery. Kosilek sued again in 2005, arguing that the surgery is a medical necessity.

Who said anything about outrage? I actually agree with this because the dude was classified with a mental illness to justify the sex change, so it's double the lulz.

The linked article near the beginning mentions Michelle being in an all-male prison. Ksandra was questioning your intelligence since you made the comment about Michelle possibly being in a coed prison when that is not the case at all and shows you lack basic reading comprehension.

Why is the prison system stupid in the US?

Because tons of money is poured into it as a method of "reforming" the people that go in, and majority come out equal or worse than when they went in. So now on top of having to pay taxpayer dollars every year so this person can live the rest of their life in jail for killing their wife, $20k more is going to be spent on this operation.

I'm aware this is the ethical thing to do but I just personally have a problem feeling empathy for someone who is in prison for taking someones life the way she did, politics on it aside.
