We should be paying it for everyone who wants it. It's not exactly a common demand enough to bankrupt the government, and even Iran's government provides funding for it.

Alrighty. So next time I want to beat someone up when I'm on duty, I'll just pay someone else to do it who's not an agent of the state. There would certainly be no arguments made that since the an agent of the state paid for it, they may as well have done it.

If she's a transsexual, it's not unnecessary. And it's 20k, a drop in the bucket compared to what you already spend maintaining the largest prison population in the world. Saying "it costs taxpayers money" is a red herring. Maintaining the prisons themselves, the food, the shelter, the staff already costs taxpayer money. Even the appeals process for a death sentence costs tax payers's money. So cut the 'tax payer's money' bullshit already.

Allergys cause an actual physical reaction to someone's body that's beyond their control, but ok. Sex changes, breast implants, tummy ticks, penis enlargement for all prisoners who are depressed because of their ailment. Huzzah!

If they are actually seriously depressed over it, and cannot be helped by antidepressants or therapy? Then sure, if that's what it takes, do it.

I'm fairly confident such a thing will never happen though.

edit: assuming doctors agreed and were willing to argue that it should be done.
