Let's compare it to a shout spec'd Guardian, too:
You would be putting 30 points into Honor and Valor, wearing a Hammer and a Staff most likely. The last points I'd put into Virtues for Boon Duration and Virtue enhancements.
You gain stability and retaliation for about 6~8 seconds every 24s as well as one condition converted to a boon for "Stand Your Ground!"
You gain 5~6 seconds of protection and around 2500HP 6s regen every 28s as well as one condition converted to a boon for "Hold the Line!".
You can add on another removed condition per shout if you give up boon duration and healing power from runes.
Third Slot you'd be fairly foolish to stick in another shout, as Retreat is the next best thing at 48s recast for one charge of Aegis and 30s or so Swiftness. You'd usually be better off sticking on Purging Flames for the condition removal and burn every 40s unless you're being very mobile for extended durations, however since you're likely on bunker duty...
Then you gain Protection with a 70% or so uptime from Symbol of Protection as well as a decent duration on Retaliation from Wrathful Strike combos along with a single target knockback and a short immobilize that takes forever to launch. From staff you get a 1200~1500 heal for people standing very close to the place that you detonate your orb of wrath and 12 stacks of might for ~10s + 2000~2200 heal for people standing near you with Empower.
For each of these applied boons, you gain 77~112HP per boon applied, with additional stacks only counting on the might from Empower.
Now someone explain to me how that's even remotely close to what Warrior gets
Its useless arguing with these people they clearly think that warrior is OP as hell and until they play it and find out themselves how hard it is.
My complaint, rangers, players must be fucking retarded. Path 2 of Ac at the traps, we have 2 rangers and ask them to do the traps, they start using their trap skills. i don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Gotta cosign Shiyo here... lolwut? I hope you don't intend to use the "meleeing is hard" argument because you must have downs if you think it is. I melee on my Mesmer in glass cannon gear.
I'm not saying standing in melee range is difficult, its about being able to detect those powerful moves and when you know you can dodge.
Your claims are based on the fact that you think warriors are fucking godly and can do everything while being powerhouses, which is about as far from the fact as you can get.
Warrior condition removal is 1. Signet of Stamina: Cure all signet, long recast - not very effective in most situations. 2. Shake it off!: Single debuff removal on self & nearby allies, med recast.
Neither of those skills are truely what makes condition removal any good, its the combo fields and guess what that requires? that's right a LIGHT Projectile that is cleansing. Can warriors open light? No of course they cant.
Now lets talk buffs, banners are what give out support buffs for warriors, the banners give a 5 second buff every 5 seconds over 45 seconds each banner has a 2 min recast and 600 yard range (Half the range on a rifle, 2/3rds of longbow range untraited). Generally arenas that you may be fighting in allow you to easily fall out of range of these buffs, rendering them useless.
With warrior its more of a balancing act with what your group comp is.
Very few guardians still use staff in sPvP from what I have seen. You don't lose a huge amount of healing using mace/shield or sword/focus but you gain some substantial DPS.
While War certainly needs some tuning I actually haven't found any that are impossible for me to kill on ele or guardian in tPvP. Of course War are a dime a dozen in tPvP right now.
Nobody is claiming Warriors can do everything at once, but they can literally excel at pretty much any role better or equal to any other class in the game. Pure damage? Warrior shits on every other class. Tankiness? Equally as good as Guardian if not better. Support? Probably the most debatable "role", but I'd say they're almost on par with Guardians and have better offensive buffs, which honestly feel better for PvE at least. Shit, they even outclass Rangers for ranged damage. They have to sacrifice far less than other classes to fit these roles too because Anet thinks it is balanced to give them a shitload more HP than other classes. If I drop my vit/healing traits to go for a damage focused role I have like 7k less HP than warriors. Seems legit.
And Staff on Guardian should only be used for Swiftness in sPvP, then you invo swap to a weapon that doesn't blow in combat. It's good for WvW and dungeons though.
Even as a necro there is no way I can get close to the stats they can. I have the 2nd highest HP but I have to focus a lot more on toughness since my class is cloth and everybody thinks because I can ranged that automatically means I should be 10xs weaker than the melee. In a game where every class has more gap closers than openers. Yeah I have DS, but I'd guesstimate that it was only worth about 12-14k hp (and it disintegrates on its own at a pretty quick rate) and its my class mechanic, warrior's can go invulnerable to direct damage completely.
What ends up happening:
Necro - 2700 armor 23khp
Warrior - 3800 armor 31k hp
Lets not even get into offensive stats.
Eh. I don't know about that. Yeah if they're specced glass cannon but if they're specced tanky/support I can outdamage them on Thief without being glass cannon. Occasionally my guild leader will pull off like a 10k HB while in support build, but I can do 25-30k then follow it up with a 8-10k backstab in 5 seconds without any traits in the Power line and without hardly any berserkers gear and I don't even use Dagger/Dagger. If they ARE absolute full glass cannon then they're equal/maybe slightly better than a full glass cannon Thief.
The thing with warrior is that they can spec glass cannon and still have a ton of survivability.
Ok maybe they survive a little better then other glass cannons but it doesn't change the fact that any decently specced class is going to shit all over a glass cannon warrior. Every single class has CC break and dodge roll and most have some form of speedy long range escape. If you're getting tuned by full on glass cannons it's because you are not using these properly or you're getting greedy and engaging with the recasts down.
Do you have downs? I was playing my warrior the other day while I was out of my god damn head on prescription painkillers and didn't die a single time. Guardian is just as dangerous while meleeing as on Warrior, if not moreso (to heal with Altruistic Healing for any reasonable amount you have to root yourself for 4 seconds fyi) and I only die to stupid shit or when I'm ressing people. Warrior is the most faceroll class I've played in GW2 so far, playing as support makes it more advanced thankfully but certainly not anywhere near "difficult".
Thing about it is they don't even need to spec glass cannon. The base damage on their skills alone is nearly enough to surpass any other class in raw damage over time. Knight's armor + cleric's or valkyrie's accessories (cleric or valkyrie's amulet). Done.
That was a general statement towards all glass cannon specs. Thf seems to be the only class with enough survivability to pull off a glass cannon build without being laughably easy to kill. Not saying glass cannon has no place in pvp just that they are not hard to deal with for any player who isn't already waiting on cool downs.
Well to be honest, the only reason thief can do it is the rendering issue with the game.
You can 1-shot a glass cannon thief and their 12k hp.
Thief can do it because they have infiltrators arrow, shadowstep and stealth.
Seeing people talking about constantly switching spell trees in Elementalist, leveling that a bit, and otherwise having only done Warrior, I can see why people think it's pretty easy to play. I'm of the mind the control scheme doesn't really support some of the play styles people advocate, though, as even reaching for the skills on 6+ feels rather unnatural since that's where your right hand would be going if it weren't stuck humping the mouse. Sure, some people get around this with gaming mice or maybe even controllers, but fuck imitating having boneitis.
True enough. I just have a general apathy toward forced mouse use that's basically been in everything since FFXI. Locking movement and ability use to the left hand only goes so far as you'll almost always want 2 fingers stuck on movement due to combat pacing.
