Confuse is still real good even with the nerf. At high cond damage it does around 50% of what it used to but it still functions as well as ever at shutting people down. It'll either tear apart people not paying attention or force people to either stop attacking or pop their cond removals. It just means you won't drop thieves in .5 seconds before they even realize they're confused.

So they added ascended gear to WVW for people who don't PVE and just WVW. They all cost laurels, and an insane amount. The amulets are 20 laurels and 250 badges, instead of just 30 laurels, which saves you 10 days. Pretty nice yeah? Here's the best part..the earrings cost 40 laurels each and 50 ectos, LITERALLY THE SAME PRICE AS THEY DO OUTSIDE WVW and have costed for a while now. So that changes nothing. Rings are 25 badges instead of 35, but any normal person will do fractals once a day for 20 days(or 2-3 times a day if you want to be faster). No backs were added, enjoy running infinite fractals or farming 100g to make the backs. So basically instead of only 1 month of Guild missions, fractals, and daily every day, you have to spend >>FIVE<< months of doing dailies to get full ascended gear. Literally 4x the time required for a full set of ascended gear.

WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING? ARE THEY FUCKING SERIOUS? HOLY SHIT. Anet are the dumbest fucking people alive, how the fuck can they think this is ok? TIME GATED CONTENT IS NOT FUN FOR ANYONE. Jesus christ, why even fucking add ascended gear to WVW if it's going to be 4x as long to get and no one will buy anything but the amulets? Fucking morons, they need to fucking stop sucking time-gated contents cock and fire the moron with downs and every mental illness in the universe designing their content.

Seriously, HOW DID THEY THINK THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? HERPA DERP WE'RE ADDING ASCENDED ITEMS TO WVW MONTHS AFTER WE ADDED IT EVERYONE ELSE, ENJOY SPENDING 5 MONTHS(x4 the time) FOR ALL THE GEAR! HF!

Maybe I'm overlooking something:

2 Rings 1 Amulet

Fractal player needs 30 laurels
WvW player needs 70 laurels
Non fractal/WvW player needs 100 laurels

2 Accessory

Everyone needs 80 laurels and 100 ectos, except if your guild does missions. Then it's 24 recom. and 10g. Hard to tell how long that takes, as it entirely depends on your guild's status. Currently, I can get that in a bit more than a week (fr/su/fr/su), but it took our guild until last friday to unlock everything, so 3 months.

Backpiece

1850 fractal relics or beeing filthy rich.

So you're looking at 110 laurels (fractal player) vs 150 laurels (wvw player) vs 180 laurels (non fractal/wvw player). That's a bit more than 2 months vs 3 months vs 3.5 months. That's also assuming, you don't get any ascended ring from the rank up chest in WvW. Aside from the backpiece, I think that's fair if you consider two things: First, fractal players actually need ascended gear to progress, due to agony resistance. Second, there was no way ANet could introduce ascended gear to WvW without beeing somehow gated. Otherwise, pure PvE players would flood WvW. Hell, they probably already are due to the magic word "precursor" on rank up chest.

Now for the backpiece, that amount is just fucked up, even from a fractal player PoV.

The gear largely being tied to dailies, then dailies themselves becoming more convoluted, played a big part in why I haven't really tried to step back into the game as someone who neither dungeon runs nor WvWs. Then again, I also feel they can't run with this sidegrade model forever, especially without new and good open world PvE content.

What is wrong with this? This is exactly why they buffed rewards from WVW, so more people would do it. WVW is so much more fun when people are actually doing it, the last few weeks I tried to do it it was so dead, but yesterday it had so many people everywhere and was so alive. Was so fun.

Don't fall for their lies. Ascended gear is NOT a sidegrade at all. I gained 22% crit dmg, 252 toughness(7.10% Damage reduction, 20% ->27.10%), 35 power and 20% gold find(Or 5 more power) at the loss 7% crit going from exotics - > ascended. That's a HUGE upgrade, considering I only had 40% crit dmg and 1347 toughness. This is with accessories only, imagine when it's a full set of ascended gear.

No, I complete my daily 95% of the time without trying or even aiming for it. They made it much easier to finish by doing various activities you're already doing in the game, meaning you very rarely need to go out of your way to finish it.

Well, one thing you're ignoring is that they increased WvW token drops by an insane amount. It's kind of horseshit I guess, especially the ones that cost the same outside of WvW as inside. Also the 1% increase to guard damage and -1% for guard damage taken is just a fucking joke, but for somebody with 500 WvW tokens taking up space in inventory, i.e.- me, it's nice that they cost less laurels in combo with tokens I have no use for otherwise.

Also those times are skewed somehow. I leveled up my Thief in May, got him to 80 this week and had the amulet purchased before I hit 80, with 15 laurels left. Now with June coming and the monthly I should have enough for a second and third piece by the end of June already. So... 5 months seems to be much longer than it should take to max out. I think I'm skipping the back piece though. Fuck all that noise.

You clearly aren't playing T3+ or maybe the NA servers are dead. I'm happy if I get in with less than 1hr in queue during prime time (T1). Reset means, you either manage to get in during a 2sec window or you can try again 4hrs later. During last reset, we had to move the EB map channel on our community server to a second one, because it crashed around 600 logged in users. Crazy stuff.

Also, right, my numbers were off. I wasn't adding the +10 from monthly to the number, oops. Still like 3 months or something, which isn't that bad. They need a better options for backs though. I get my back in a few days, but it took fucking 360360036 fractals to get enough for it @___@

Yeah, they seem to be introducing new back items alot, since they're actually visible as opposed to rings and amulets. I just want new armor and weapon skins in general. That's my biggest dissapointment I think in the game, that they haven't introduced hardly any new armor or weapons other than the stupid RNG shit.

You can get an ascended back slot in an hour max from the living story achievement + forge recipe lol.

Cosign. Just pimped out my freshly 80 Thief since coming back and I'm stumped on good daggers and a pistol to use. That back piece is a pretty rarely used stat combo Celeras so kind of irrelevent, for most classes/specs it'd be a downgrade from exotic. Definitely a great combo for pure cond specs though.

Its like the perfect bunker stat combo for most specs too, esp Engineers.

Either way you can transmute it to the stats of any exotic back piece you want, and then upgrade it through the ascended forge recipe. AFAIK anyway, just going by what I read seeing as I got my shit done six months ago.

That doesn't sound like it'd ever work conceptually but godly if true, need to look in to that! Already got back for my Thief and a PVT quiver in bank that I'll prob never use lol... I don't really mind backs cost since there's at least a non-time gated option. I can hop on and make progress toward one whenever I like (well, ignoring the fact I could even just outright buy the stuff whenever at this point). Having to wait for the others with no other option available is a little annoying (though I guess grinding WvW for rings is a possibility now, but need bullshit levels of luck to get the one you want).
