My wife breastfeed my daughter till she was 2. Some people thought that was too long, but she wanted to keep going until my daughter and her naturally stopped.

I think when a child can replace a liquid diet with solid food then why not switch? yours kids I guess but the expression to wean someone off of something is used as a metaphor for a reason. You don't want kids being overly attached and it's good for them to distinguish their ability to feed themselves (at least as far as what's on the plate in front of them) and be that much more independant

You want to keep the warm nurturing bond of skin to skin contact? Hug and cuddle them, but put some of that bitter stuff on the nipples and make it more of an embrace than a feeding

I don't know the science behind it well enough but apparently human contact especially before age 5 is important so as to properly develop emotions (see: not raising a serial killer). Even to this day there is something soothing to me about having my chest rubbed, above my pecs closer to my collar bone area. I think that bond is much more important than the actual feeding itself

I'm sure by 2 their immune system has plenty of what it needs from breast milk

ya they really want you breast feeding naked with the baby naked just for this reason. I don't always do it though lol.

My wife and I have discussed this at great length. We have a 4 month old (Month, not year), and she plans to probably stop at about 6 months, possibly longer, but not longer than 1 year.

We both think it's a little weird to go on for years, but if it's what the parent feels is best, more power to 'em. Personally, I think if the kid is old enough to ask for it, it's too old.

I've heard you can make some bank selling that shit though...
